Alsalam alikum,

I have a revert friend who are going to Bangladesh in the next few weeks. So, I think it would be good if I can find an addresses for Shia islamic center or a mosque for her there.
Actually, I read an article about Shia in Bangladesh, but I couldn't find any address....
Is there anyone from Bangladesh here?

I guess you would also need to know which city of Bangladesh is ur friend going to cause only after then would anyone be able to give u addresses for the Shia Centers available in that city. A Shia center which is more than 2-3 hour drive from ur friends place of temp residence may not be very useful for her.

I think it doesn't matter if anyone can give addresses to any mosque or islamic center in any city of Bangladesh,
then it would be good for people to back to this thread as a guidance for Shia in Bangladesh,
as I couldn't get any info about this anywhere.

There is a Cultural center in Dhaka, Bangladesh.Its known as a Iranian Cultural center.

Address: Iranian Cultural Center, Road# 8/A, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

There are four Imambari in Dhaka. But I recommended to you that, pls contact Iranian Cultural Center for further information. I think its good for your friend.

There is the website of a very old shia hussainia  / imambargah in Dhaka,Bangladesh. The address is :

The are many shia mosques in dhaka, sylhet , khulna and many other areas. The ashura processions are also taken out in different  cities in bangladesh.

There are so many Shia Mosques in Bangladesh. I am giving addresses of few Shia Mosques--

Dhaka City: 1. Hoseini Dalan (Old dhaka, Dhaka)
    2. Mirpur Imam Bargha (Mirpur 11, Dhaka)
    3. Mohhamadpur Shia Mosque (Mohhamadpur, Dhaka)
    4. Paltan Imam Bargha (Old Paltan, Dhaka)
                    5. Maghbazar Imam Bargha (Maghbazar, Dhaka)

Khulna City: 1. Kasre Husseini Imam Bara and Masjid e Asr (Altaf Gali, Khulna)
    2. Kasre Abbas Imam Bara (Khalishpur, Khulna)
    3. There is a small Imam Bargha also at Municipal Tank Road, Khulna
    4. Shia Mosque (Senhati, Khulna)

Jessore City: 1. Jessore Imam Bargha (Murli, Jessore)
2. New Imam Bargha (Barandaripara, Jessore)

Rajshahi City: 1. Two Shia Mosques (at Uposhohor, Rajshahi)

I think there is not much research been done on shia communities in Bangladesh. Although there are shias and shia mosques in bangladesh , and ashura processions are also taken out, but we do not know who is their leader / who are the shia scholars there that are guiding the community. Also we do not hear much on internet and media about the shia activities in Bangladesh (except on ashura). What i know  is there is a shia aalim in khulna and his name is hashim moosvi.

No, his name is Hujjat al Islam Ebrahim Khalil Razavi. And aside from him there is another Qom-trained Mujtahid based in Dhaka. We keep quiet usually, because we want to stay under the Wahhabi's radar.

Sorry my mistake i pasted the wrong name. Thanks for correcting me. Also can you tell me approximately how many shia are there in bangladesh? and are they spread throughout bangladesh or only in particular cities / areas only?

There is also a mosque / imambara in Sylhet. I have watched the video of ashura on youtube in that city. The area is Prithimpassa (in Sylhet).
