In the old version of the board engine the second line of a topic title could be used to describe the topic in more detail, or even to continue the title.
Obviously (!?) tags in the new software work in a different way. I've noticed that some people are using them the right way while many are not using them at all. I think that is a shame.
If the tag function WORKS the way it is supposed to AND people use it, then SEARCHING for topics should be a lot easier in the future.
In fact, people can actually click tags to find similar threads, very useful indeed.
I guess everyone here is familiar with them, but in case anyone isn't, you'll note that the way I have used tags for this thread is quite different to the way the description line would have been used in the old system.
Effectively I am trying to think of keywords that could be used by someone searching for this post.
Here are two examples from recent topics posted on Shiachat. The first one, I think, is good because people can use the tags to search for the book and also any other threads that deal with torrents or downloads.
The second example is a bad use of tags because it's using tags in the old description system and the string of words used would be quite useless for search purposes, IMHO.
Good use of tags
Topic title: Important! Need Help!
Tags: kitab-alKafi, Torrent, Download
Bad use of tags
Topic title: A Believer Is Happy On 3 Occasions
Tags: who can added this?
And another thing. For tags to work people have to put in commas AFTER each one, including the LAST one, for each term to be a separate tag.
