So basically other then Lauren Booth and Malcolm X's grandson no famous people have converted to Islam. I know the word famous can be used in many ways but I was meaning someone that is known globally.

I know Wayne Parnell, a South African Cricketer converted to Islam recently but unsure if it was Sunni or Shia Islam.

I can't seem to find any info on it (though i'm sure i have read about it in the past) but the ex-president of cameroon, is said to have become shi'a

it's not much, but a salafi guy mentions it in this video, +- 1 min

what this about Neil Armstrong, or is it a joke?

Mac, thanks... Very nice article...

He didn't hear anything, in fact, sound waves can't propagate in empty space, in the void of space, even if an explosion occurs in front of you, you wouldn't hear it... Forget "Star Trek" and "Star Wars".

About Yusuf Qardhawi and Habib Al Jafri... Proof or gerr out! I still see Yusuf Qardawi babbling a lot on Al-Jazeera, I directly change the channel, if he had converted they would not bring him for interviews anymore, trust me... He was on a couple of nights back as I recall...

um.. perhaps i should have clarified by adding a J/K or *sarcasm* to my post :donno:

Do you mean cameroon or the Comoro islands? The Comoro islands president was a total shia. He goes by the nickname 'Khomeini' ^_^ he is also hawza educated (i think about 8 years)

Imam Husain (a) replied to a man who said, 'Sit down so we can debate about religion' – 'I am aware of my religion, and my path is clear for me. So, if you are ignorant about your religion then go and seek it. What do I have to do with disputation? Indeed the devil tempts a person and calls him, saying, 'Debate with people regarding their religion so that they do not think of you as incapable and ignorant.'

Sambi of Comorros, according to his wikipedia biography, is Sunni. He did study in Qom Hawza but also in Saudi and Sudan. Apparently he just really likes the style of clothing that our ulama wear.

He is Shia, I know this because some of my family members have had an acquaintance with him (even before he became president).

There is a guy who i think is quite big in the french rap scene, his name is 'Dieudonné', apparently he often praises Hezbollah in his songs, and I was watching this french video by some person trying to refute shi'ism, and he mentioned that this guy is shi'a, there is another famous french guy (rapper i assume - i have heard the name in passing) was also mentioned as being shi'a.

In 2009, it was revealed that Snoop Dogg was a member of the Nation of Islam. On March 1, 2009, he made an appearance at the Nation of Islam's annual Saviours' Day holiday, where he praised minister Louis Farrakhan. Snoop claimed to be a member of the Nation of Islam, but he declined to give the date on which he joined. He also donated $1,000 to the organization.[94][95][96]

Busta had been a member of The Nation of Gods and Earths[16] since the age of 15.[17]

Chappelle lives with his wife Elaine, two sons,[26] Sulayman[30] and Ibrahim,[31] and daughter Sonal, on a 65-acre (260,000 m2) farm,[2][9] just outside Yellow Springs, Ohio.[21] He also owns several houses in Xenia, Ohio. Regarding his home in Yellow Springs, Ohio, Chappelle says, "Turns out you don't need $50 million to live around these parts, just a nice smile and a kind way about you. You guys are the best neighbors ever," he stated at a blues and jazz festival in the town in mid-September 2006. "That's why I came back and that's why I'm staying."[32]

Chappelle is a Muslim, having converted to Islam in 1998. He told Time Magazine in a May 2005 interview, "I don’t normally talk about my religion publicly because I don’t want people to associate me and my flaws with this beautiful thing. And I believe it is beautiful if you learn it the right way."[33]

O'Neal is a Muslim.[128] He married Shaunie Nelson on December 26, 2002. The couple had four children (Shareef, Amirah, Shaqir, and Me'arah), and Nelson had one child from a previous relationship (Myles). O'Neal also had a daughter from a previous relationship (Taahirah), making him the biological father of five, and the former stepfather of one.
(above the pic he smiling with US soldiers cough)

During his incarceration, Tyson converted to Islam.[54] On July 2, 2010 he visited Mecca to perform the Umrah (Minor Islamic pilgrimage).[55]

Michael Gerard "Mike" Tyson (also known as Malik Abdul Aziz)

Mos Def converted to Islam. While his father was initially a member of the Nation of Islam and later an active member in the community of Imam Warith Deen Mohammed, who merged into mainstream Islam from the Nation, Mos Def was not exposed to Islam until the age of 13. At 19, he took his shahada, the Muslim declaration of faith. He is friends with fellow Muslim rappers Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Q-Tip.[2]

Dave Chapell is Questionable, Snoop Dog is nonsense, he addressed a gathering of NOI (Nation of Islam) and said 'Salam Alekum' that was it. Doesn't mean he converted.
Shaqil O'Neal (Shaq) might be true. I saw an interview with him on a Turkish T.V. station and he said he was going to Hajj, InshahAllah. Don't know if he's Shia / Sunni /
I don't know if Malcolm X(ra) became Shia, but there are some of his sons or grandchildren that are, (metioned above)
Some others that weren't mentioned,

Sean Ali Stone (son of Oliver Stone, famous Hollywood movie director)
Jacque Cousteau (famous Marine biologist and T.V. Host)
Napolean (famous hip hop artist), changed his name now (I forgot what it was changed to)
Dr. Maurice Buchille (famous French Scientist)
Dr. Jeffrey Lang (Mathematician and Professor at University of Kansas in the U.S)

I also heard from multiple sources that Neil Armstrong (first man on the Moon) became muslim
after he heard the Athan when he landed on the moon, and he did taqiyya because he was afraid
of being killed. If that is true, it makes sense because he is such an icon of American culture that
if he accepted Islam publically, that would change the entire country in a way that the powers that be
wouldn't want to happen. Allah Alim

Hadith #32.

With my continuous chain of transmission reaching up to Muhammad ibn Ya'qub al-Kulaynl, from al-Husayn ibn Muhammad, from al-Mu'alla ibn Muhammad, from al-Hasan ibn 'All al-Washsha', from 'Abd Allah ibn Sinan, from Abu 'Abd Allah, may Peace be upon him, which he said:

"Among the things pertaining to the soundness of a Muslim's certitude [in faith] is that he would not please people while displeasing God, nor blame them for something that God has not given him. For, verily, [God's] rizq (provision, sustenance) is not brought about by anybody's greed, nor is it withheld by anyone's disapproval, and were anyone of you to flee from his rizq like he flees death, his rizq would overtake him in the way he is overtaken by death." Then he added, "Indeed Allah with His justice and fairness, has put joy and comfort in certainty (yaqin) and satisfaction (al- rida) and He has put sorrow and grief in doubt and dissatisfaction."
