Wikiedia: "Al-Ikhlas means "the purity" or "the refining".
Through my growth I have learnt that Ikhlas means loyality.
And when i think now about words similar ... I find that the meaning to Ikhlas is close to loyality than purity.
I would be suprised if ... Haha. Then this would be a total, JOKE! Haha.
Thanks guys.
Peace

If you suggest to surat al-Ikhlas, it has been translated as 'unity'. This is either for the Arabic word mean unity or they "summarize" the entire chapter through this word. Anyway, you could assume that it means 'unity' not anything else.
However, the 'Ikhlas' which means loyality is 'Mokhlasen' which can be translated to loyal or sincere. For example, this surah of the Noble Qur'an:
- [31:32] And when waves come over them like canopies, they supplicate Allah , sincere to Him in religion. But when He delivers them to the land, there are [some] of them who are moderate [in faith]. And none rejects Our signs except everyone treacherous and ungrateful. [Surat Luqman]
- [31:32]
وَإِذَا غَوَإِذَا غَشِيَهُمْ مَّوْجٌ كَالظُّلَلِ دَعَوُاْ اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّين
[Surat Luqman]
The heart of man earns whatever it strives for and its destination ends at its contentment. Those who seek God shall find God, those who seek an argument shall find an argument, and those who seek a reply shall find a reply, God says:
"So let anyone who wishes take the way toward his Lord. But you do not wish unless it is wished by Allah. Indeed Allah is all-knowing, all-wise." - Quran, al-Insan, 76:29-30.
Whosoever God has made his heart find rest at His remembrance has prospered into the heights of man, beyond the angelical kingdom towards salvation, and finally annihilation in the Beloved. But as for him whose deeds weigh light in the scales, his home will be the Abyss. They treaded upon a path without an end, an abyss, for beyond God -- there is nothing else -- and these hearts shall never see the light of their journey; thus they search for answer until the weariness of the journey overcomes them and stops at whatever is between their hands and seeks not what is beyond that, thus: "They know just an outward aspect of the life of the world, but they are oblivious of the Hereafter." - Quran, al-Rum, 30:7.

ikhlas is purity
its not unity and its not loyalty
the reason they said unity is because they are talking about "Ikhlas al Tawheed" = the purification of unity
loyalty is Wafaa
the loyalty of the dog is the wafa of the dog
your right that ikhlas can mean loyalty as well in some contexts
the word ikhlas is derived from the "khalasa" which means " what remained or what was filtered out or refined
khulasa = summery
Istikhlas= refining and distillation
khollas= pure followers
khalas= finished ( the refining has finished)

What i tried to explain is just one aspect of it, but there could be many many dimensions in which you could understand the meaning of ikhlas while the real meaning of ikhlas will be the comprehensiveness of these dimensions to make it holistic.
Another meaning of iklas could be how far do you take the meaning of "ei yaka naa' bodo was ii ya ka nastaeen", in AlHamd when we say " to You only we worship and to you only we seek for help" a really really deep ayat (read tafseer of AlHamd from Ay. Khoei'

112.003 He begetteth not, nor is He begotten.
Thus, it is more close to purity.
Purity is sincerity.
