I was wondering what font you would recommend for someone starting to learn to write the Arabic script.

One site recommended Djerba Simplified:

What are your thoughts on this as a model handwriting font, or is there any better option you could recommend?

Thanks.

i recommend that at first you just work on making your handwriting as neat as possible until you get a good handle of it, then experiment and find a style that you like or even make your own style.

Like me personally, i like sticking with using neat handwriting if i can, but if i have to write something in a hurry (like writing notes in class) then i lean towards the Farsi/Urdu nastaliq script because it saves time and is also nice and artistic:

Lo! As for those who sunder their religion and become schismatics, no concern at all hast thou with them. Their case will go to Allah, Who then will tell them what they used to do. .

Thank you for your comment.

Though I agree that one must develop his own style eventually in any language, it is useful in the initial stages to have a model worth copying otherwise we have no point of reference. Perhaps I should have clarified in the beginning that I'm only starting to learn to write Arabic letters.

Thanks for your comment though; I will certainly look to see if there is any nastaliq font I could learn from.
