TODAY: 18:30 - 21:30 - BE ON TIME, else you'll be missing out.
Join us for a unique, ground-breaking event where the decisions are in YOUR hands.
This Monday, Sheikh Mohammed Hilli will be placed in the hot seat ready to discuss & debate the topics that matter to YOU with YOU.
How it works:
There will be 3 hot-topics up for discussion/debate. Sheikh Mohammed Hilli will be on the stage with YOU the audience opposite him. Mediated by our chairman Mohammed Ridha Hamid, the floor will be open at all times with a 40min limit per topic.
Our headline topic will be:
Should Men Teach Women About Hijab?
- Is it really up to men to dictate hijab to women?
- Is it fair that men can discuss female hijab when they are clearly not exposed to the pressures/problems sisters are facing?
- Are men going about the right way in advising sisters in regards to hijab?
- Should men even advising sisters about hijab at all?
Other topics:
'Muslim' or 'British Muslim' - does Islam promote seclusion or inclusion?
- How far should we integrate into British society?
- Is it our duty to get involved British politics? Why?
- Being honoured by the Queen: acceptable or not?
- Will we ever even be accepted as 'British Muslims'?
Hijab and social networking - where's the red line?
- Is it a taboo for genders to intermix online? Is it Islamicly allowed?
- What is allowed and what isn't? Friend requests/profile pics/Inter-gender Tweeting...?
- Isn't Islam "old fashioned" if it forbids such things?
- Can it not be a platform for spouse selection?
The event will begin at 6:30PM SHARP, so please ensure that you arrive on time. Anyone who arrives after 6:30pm will be missing out.
Address:
131 Walm Lane
London
NW2 3AU
Ahlulbayt TV will be recording the event. Brothers & sisters welcome. Refreshments will be served.
This Monday, YOU can challenge the norm with your opinions & ideas - discussing the BIG questions that matter to you!

Quote
Irfan and the Qur’an:
With special reference to Rumi
The course will investigate mystical (irfani) understanding of the Qur’an, what is meant by the Qur’anic roots of Islamic mysticism and how major mystic figures have developed a proper language for it.
Method:
The course will examine different layers of the Qur’anic understandings in accordance with different paradigms and schools of thought. There will be some special references to the well-known masterpieces of mystical literature, most notably The Mathnawi of Jalaluddin Rumi. Besides English version of these references, we will also try to recite and explain some selected parts in Persian at the end of each session of the course.
Level:
The course is designed for those who have basic familiarities with the mainstream Muslim mystic figures as well as general understanding of the Islamic thoughts. Those who enjoy artistic and poetic grasp of the Divine Message will certainly appreciate the course much better; and that would also be the case for those who have some taste of mystical Persian classic literature.
Lecturer:
The course is offered by Ahmad Jalali who has frequently lectured and written on the topic.
The course is comprised of 4 sessions on the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th July 2012. The sessions start from 18.30pm – 20.00pm. There is no charge for attending the course; however, registration is required and the participants are expected to attend all four lectures and be punctual.

Even though I'm not really a fan of irfan, this could actually be quite interesting in terms of understand the irfani take on the Qur'an

Chronological order of the events taking place from now till 21st August 2012
I will update as more events are added insha'Allah
Note - these are only the events I see advertised on FB, there are probably much more events that take place which I don't see on FB but are on the websites of the masjid which hosts them e.g.
- Dua Kumayl at IC on thursdays after maghrib and isha prayers (not sure if its every thursday)
- Dua nudbah (I think) at Stanmore on Friday mornings (not sure if every friday or the time or even if they host dua nudbah but I think they do)
- Lectures at Hyderi usually every night by the resident alim Sheikh Abbas Panju (I think they hold lectures nearly every night I may be wrong though)
etc..
Here are some good websites to check

Note - there are some events that I don't wish to get involved in (e.g. some protests) because I don't have a stance on the issue so I don't know if what is being protested for is correct or not so I won't be posting those events

Was on my way to this one today, but as soon as I stepped out the house it started bucketing it down. Even though I had my brolly with me, I was like... nah forget this o_o
