mash'Allah, simply beautiful, and may Allah hasten his return! i like that it was hand engraved, i know what you mean about the focus. i was trying or ages to get my durr in focus last night but my camera was having none of it lol.
Yes! May Allah Hasten His Return Insha'Allah!!
Lol yeah, I even put it under the sun to make it show, but then it got really bright and you couldn't see anything.

this is obviously a really high quality piece; the most expensive aqeeq are the opaque ones with the swirls/ lines on them. i once saw an aqeeq being sold for the equivalent of £2000 because the swirls spelt "ali" in arabic.

How much is 2,000 pounds? Lol like 4,000 dollars? That's a lot. My mom got it like 11 years ago, when the price of things wasn't so high.

View PostMaula Dha Mallang, on 26 July 2011 - 09:17 AM, said:

that looks to me like a hadeed cheeni, you are right to stay away from them. if i remember this correctly they are made from a metal which comes from a meteor which hit earth, so its an alien metal. you are only allowed to wear them in battle because they protect you and make you really strong, but if you wear them for too long they start damaging you somehow. i have one too but ive never worn it.

Alien metal? Are you serious?    lol Alrighty, then that's going away. o.o

View PostMaula Dha Mallang, on 26 July 2011 - 09:17 AM, said:

thats what i wanted to see :) things like plastic, glass or other counterfeit materials which some people use to pretend a ring is durr najaf cant do that same effect. you must keep hold of that ring forever!

its interesting about the line in the middle too, it reminds me of the cats eye effect of the rarest emeralds:

Posted Image

but the cats eye effect is super duper rare, there are some on sale on auction that start at £30,000+. my uncle has this durr najaf which has these black hair like structures embedded within the actual stone, like a mosquito in amber. he told me a whole story about how when imam ali (as) used to go to cut his hair and trim his beard, some of his hair would fall in the river and over years become part of the vein of durr najaf, and the black things were his hair.

i went to a guy who knew about them and he said "no, its just a fossil. it takes millions of years to make the stone" uncles and their stories man!

What's the cats eye effect? Never heard of it before, but when I went to the ring stores they had these really nice yellow stones, I asked for the name and they said something about the sun. :/ lol
Haha, poor uncle. but that would've been so cool to have Imam Ali's (as) actual hair.
Are they sold anywhere? Do you know?

the square one does look like it's emerald.. mom gave it to me a while back.. I thought u've seen it! for some reason if I wear it more than few hrs the gold in it starts feeling weird

lool not sure abt the other stones! I'll show u em later coz they r just sitting in the drawer lool

it could be an emerald like the one i have round my neck? as your mum what stone it is. if it is emerald i would be SERIOUSLY impressed. ive only really noticed the amber one cos its such a distinctive design

yes, but the £2000 was an extreme case because it had "ali" naturally formed by the lines; if i had any sense i would have taken a picture of it. normally they arent anywhere near that high

s'true. our maula ali (as) used to only wear it in battle. dont get rid of it because genuine hadeed are a pain in the ass to get a hold of, but when our imam returns you may find yourself wearing it a lot!

in maybe 1 in 1000 emeralds, the line in the middle forms liek in the picture, causing a "cats eye" effect. because of its scarcity (similar to the blue diamond) it pretty much increases the value of the emerald by 10 times.

imnot sure about the yellow stones, if you rubbed them, did they smell?

ive not seen them sold anywhere, but im sure there are places that sell them. ill see if i can get a picture of my uncles ring and upload it here.

I Hate, Because I Love.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad from Hariz from Fudayl ibn Yasar who has said the following:

"I asked abu 'Abd Allah, recipient of divine supreme covenant, 'Are love and hate part of belief?' The Imam asked, 'Is belief anything but love and hate?'

loving the display box mash'Allah, i noticed you have the same aqeeq ring as i do, was it from shaam? the feroza mashallah is beautiful too. are there two stones on the opposite side?

Thanks, the display box is from ebay- £2  :D and yep both rings are from shaam, my family in pakistan go ziyarat regularly alhamdulillah, and send us gifts from there. There's another Aqeeq ring in the display box, I ordered that from an online store but it's wayyy too big for any of my fingers...

Pearls generate calmness and tranquility and are very soothing .It proves very effective for the people who are short-tempered.

Ruby on other hand brings out energy and life.

I liked the contrast and needed both so made this one.

Yup, the second from the left is black `aqeeq.  The one on the far right is amber, I don't know what it's called in Arabic, but apparently we have ahadith on it.  I just liked the ring so I bought it.  Normally, I'll wear the third one with the huge stone and the one on the far right.  If I want more bling then I'll go up to four rings and mix and match.

Lol during zyarah, all I see are hands on the window filled with the stone rings.

Thanks, I got them back home in Lebanon, there's a really good "hidden" stones shop and the owner has an Iraqi employee called Ma'an... You pick and choose the raw stone among several hundreds as well as the type of band, then Ma'an works on it and also engraves whatever you like on the stone... It all takes a week or less, to finish and you go get it... Like on the Aqeeq, you barely see it but I had Allah a.j. and all the Ahlulbayt's s. names engraved... On the Firoza, it's barely seen even when you hold it, but I got "Allah Al-Malek", (To Allah a.j. belongs the dominion) engraved...

are men allowed to own pearls? its one of the gems i dont own. i like the arrangement of the ring, it looks kinda like a flower. i always heard that rubys = wealth, so Insha'Allah may your life be filled with contentment and satisfaction, as well as energy and enjoyment and wealth, ameen!

Ill try and show at least one every night inshallah - including this tasbih/ misbah that my dad owns made from some mystery gem, that when you rub it, it smells beautiful. ive never seen any gem like it before or since, and he has forgotten himself what the stone is, all he knows is it was a gift from najaf :(

ive got literally a carrier bag full of rings and loose stones, so i will only show the ones i find particularly interesting. i hope members keep contributing too tho!

Theres no ruling or restriction for men to wear or own pearl. The only restriction is gold for men. Rubies are recommended in fact. It was a stone Imam Ali(as) used to wear.

I always wanted a ring with pearl and rubies together ; when I got the chance gave the design myself to make it.

I liked your silver aqeeq ring..its got exquisite design mashallah.

Thanks for your duas. Ameen.

not really; but i dont think its femenine. its not like its a pearl necklace innit? i only wear one ring, the most powerful ones i keep round my neck. because pearl is so easy to fake though, i wouldnt buy a pearl ring from anywhere in the ME unless i was 100% confident in the seller. i would prefer to get the pearl from here with a stamp of authenticity and get it set in a silver ring from a paki jeweller, while i waited and stood over him to make sure he didnt switch.

Exactly.

you know bro, i heard a story that the aqeeq which beared the inscription allahu maalikul mulk, was actually the ring of hazrat sulayman (pbuh) himself, which was passed down to imam ali (as), and was the one that hazrat sulayman used to control the angels. this was the exact ring which our master (as) gave while in rukuh without even a moments thought.

will there ever be enough words to describe maula ali (as) fazeelat?

i like your ring mash'Allah, its easy for ring makers to ruin designs of rings by adding too many stones, they either make them too small as to be insignificant or too big to be practical to wear. i love the way the ring maker used a few, decent sized stones of the main gems to make the rings. its beautiful mash'Allah.

and get collecting!
