I've read arguments for both sides and I gotta' admit that the arguments for it being a hoax are pretty solid.

I'll go with Occams Razor on this one. If it was a hoax the Russians would have found out and made America a laughing stock

+1

The Soviets/Russians has spies at high level in every important agency in the US. They would of known very early on if it was a hoax or not, and definitely made it public to mock the US.

It has all been a hoax perpetrated by The US, the USSR, Russia, England, and pretty much the rest of the West, and Israel all aided by the Freemasons. The USA and Russia have even sacrificed astronauts to make it seem real.

The target was the Third World and the intent is to make them feel even more inferior so they can be manipulated and used to steal their natural resources. The parts that are real are used to spy on them and gather info on resources, crop yields etc etc.

considering that there are international space stations, and there are robots on mars which are in part built by americans.  Something like walking on the moon sounds like a walk in the park for a nation that has the consumption of a hoard of hungry hippos.

cant believe people find such a big news a hoax. Most of the points (flag waving, parallel shadows etc) that are raised by conspiracy theorists were debunked on MythBusters (good show) and in the end they even proved that they went to moon. I am not a big fan of america either but not everything has to be a conspiracy lol.

I also watched an episode on the History Channel about Moon Landing conspiracy. Most of them (conspiracies) were debunked. The video of moon landing might have been cold war propaganda to show the US Supremacy. However, I do believe we went to the moon and came back.

Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things.

You know, i've thought about this question. For one they brought back moon rocks that aren't really similar to anything on earth, for two, nasa had thousands of people working for them...how did this not get out if it was a hoax?E

Even if it did or didn't happen, i really don't care, it doesn't affect my life in the slightest, it probably doesn't affect yours either. So the question isn't even all that important i reckon...

you guys are missing the point here.

the moon is an alien spaceship, completely hollow (which is why it rang like a bellwhen struck), inhabited by aliens and has a role to play when nibiru returns.

seriously though

i dont believe we went to the moon, because i believe in the existence of the van allen belt. if someone could debunk that then i would believe we went to the moon. otherwise the moon shuttle would have been pretty much disintegrated by all that radiation

I Hate, Because I Love.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad from Hariz from Fudayl ibn Yasar who has said the following:

"I asked abu 'Abd Allah, recipient of divine supreme covenant, 'Are love and hate part of belief?' The Imam asked, 'Is belief anything but love and hate?'

Why have they never returned to the moon?

Is it because countries (non-allies) now have the technology to monitor them?

Or because they were perhaps warned against it first time around?

Or because they already achieved what they wanted to from their hoax?

Im not sure who youre talking about, but several trips have been made to the moon by the US, apollo 13 had a malfunction and blew up, however the other 6 missions made it. (apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, and 16? oh and 17).

Realistically though, there is no need to send people up there, we can just send robots.  Theyre a lot cheaper, and safer. And, most countries, now n days i would say, if they had the funds, could get to the moon if they willed.  Now that countries have international space stations and robots landing on mars and satellites orbiting jupiter.  Our neighbor the moon is a bit less important.

I mean more recently though? We have not been 'back' to the moon in over 40 years? Technology has moved on greatly since then, so why do they not feel the need to return?

Surely they have not discovered all there is to discover about the moon in those relatively short lived trips? If they have been there at all (which i have my reservations about).

I suppose this is a debate which could do on for a long time, from both sides of the fence. Although fascinating, for me personally it is too much of a divert to worry about such claims.

Well, i mentioned before.  Why would we go back?  Theres nothing there but anorthosite (kidding), and we have bots that can do the work.  NASAs budget, its about 1/50th of money used in the failed bailout.  Youve gotta understand that, the govt ONLY spends money on applicable science, not science in value of discovery.  Scientists cant even get money to do basic studies in their backyard let alone on the moon. But honestly, i study geology and, i dont think there is really any reason to send people back to the moon.  There are plenty of other more valuable research projects that need the money (what little we have).

But, if you think about, we can go back during the cold war.  At that time, the govt spent tons of money on space programs, why? because of competition with the soviets.  Now that there is no competition, where is money going now?  Its going toward the building of jets that can fly to europe in 20 minutes, and im not joking.  Its being spent on weapons and social security programs.

http://theweek.com/a...-crash-and-burn

It crashed into the ocean, but im sure round two is around the corner.

Science is the last place the govt spends money.  At least in todays time.

This is why we need peace in the world, so we can spend more money where it matters.

How many millions of $/£ are actually un-accounted for? Secret service? Do you not think they have their own research labs?

nah, trust me.  It is true that america and the UK do appear to spend lots of money on science, They spend most money on "military science", not "discovery science", but most inventions come from private businesses (like ford and boeing who build american weapons), and mainly scientific advances come from applicable technology.

Like, if i start a research project, and there is a good chance, that project will bring tons of money into the country, then the government will support me.  But if my research is souly for the advancement of knowledge, and it doesnt have anything to do with making money, the government wont give me a dime.

There is so SO much more money going to weapons and technology development and healthcare programs.  I know, in geology, even studies in my field depend upon application.  If you want to know something about the earths crust in the ocean, you better have some association to an oil company or something.  There is so much more money that goes to other places, NASA in particular gets a very very very small fraction of government spending.

But you know, its not completely unreasonable.  Would you rather have money spend on keeping the country alive, or with new discoveries? preferably both, but the main importance does come with things like putting food on peoples tables and being able to defend yourself from soviet nuclear bombs.

and i dont know much about the last question. secret services?  the CIA and the FBI and groups like that, dont really run operations for the advancement of scientific discovery.

people spend money with expectations to make money. The govt doesnt pay biologists to discover things about evolution, they pay biologists to discover things about medicine to keep us healthy.  The govt doesnt pay geologists to go dig up bones or to research rodinia, they pay geologists to get oil etc.

During the cold war, the US deliberately spent lots of money on space programs specifically to look better than the soviets.  no more soviets, no more moon landings.

in the past, ive went to go find research on certain topics, only to find out that there is a blank slate of research due to a lack of funding from the govt.  Im sure many scientists out here know exactly what im talking about.

check this out.

http://tes.asu.edu/E...pending_ex.html
$304 billion National Defense/Military
$272 billion Social Security
$194 billion Interest on the Debt
$16  billion Science/Technology/Space (How much of this amount is just for NASA?   0.90%   [$14 billion])

http://www.thespacer...m/article/898/1

For every $1 the federal government spends on NASA, it spends $98 on social programs. In other words, if we cut spending on social programs by a mere one percent, we could very nearly double NASA’s budget.
