(salam)

I don't have my own business, but I am an Internet Marketer with a well known company here in Toronto - I have been into the field theoretically (learning & researching about it) for a few years, but have only been working formally in the industry since a year (after my graduation from university). I am planning to get my Google Analytics certification by the end of next week inshAllah. I have worked with over 50 clients by now and some that I am currently working on or have recently worked on are Money Mart, Robin Sharma and CFIB. Feel free to add me on LinkedIn.

I would like to hear what kind of link building strategies some of you use?

One strategy I think works is making Link Wheels especially on good PR sites. If you're willing to go black hat you can further Xrumer blast those links. Of course SEO is very dynamic given how many times Google changes its Algo so there is no one way.

Anyhow I have been doing SEO and Social Media in addition to PPC on Adwords/Bing for a while so if you guys need advice feel free to ask.

Google is able to detect link wheeling and in itself is a very old strategy; I have never bothered to do it personally. Also Black Hat techniques are not worth it in the long run (just check out the recent JC Penny fiasco), however one unethical (debatable really) way that I do use from time to time is purchasing links on blog sites - however even that needs to be done strategically (relevant content, relevant sites, blog sites that are targeted etc.), but I have some seen good results from them.

I don't use Skype often at all (just for family conversations) - it would be best to e-mail me if there is anything in particular you wish to converse about.

Depends, its usually link farms which Google doesn't like and I believe their newest Algo change had to do with that. Personally I had my relatively new sites go to No.1 for very difficult keywords against established sites by getting Link Wheels done on SEnuke and then having those links Xrumered. Aside from that you want updated content frequently and for that you can attach a wordpress blog with nicely spun articles in my opinion. Of course JC Penny was scrutinized since they are a big and established company but if you're doing it for your own sites no one will give a [Edited Out] lol. Either way its not illegal and if you're not doing forum spam its not completely "unethical" either (most softwares and link lists etc like Angela's Links, Xrumer create forum profiles with back links)

The only time I would not recommend some Black Hat techniques like sending in 20k backlinks etc is when you direct link to your site and its brand new. Chances are you can get sandboxed BUT you're site from what I heard will return in a few months with decent enough placements.

Thank you brother. I can't send you at the moment PM because I don't have enough posts done here but I will send you an email enshallah.

The best way to build links is to write something that interest people very much. Even Google loves it. Of course you need to write high quality content. I remember how I went from 200 visitors/month to 1800 visitors/month and this was achieved because of following reasons:

  • Constant Interesting Content Posting
  • New Professional Theme of The Blog
  • Optimizing That Content Properly

Yeah I guess. I have used tactics of joining targeted niche forums and adding anchor texts with keywords in the profile information areas. They are usually a PR 0 page, however if you have a lot of them on different niche pages, they have been shown to show a certain degree of effect.

For directory submissions, I usually use a software called SubmitEaze. You can do Article submissions with it as well - of course it does require you to enter the captcha every time. Directories are good, however of course they aren't as good as article submissions with links towards your site. Furthermore, I usually buy links from blogs (I write the content) from forums.digitalpoint.com (click on Forum at the top and then on Link Sales). I was also doing competitor research recently and I found a new site that allows dofollow links in comments; it is called Ads of the World.

How much of SEOmoz tools do you guys use? We have a premium account through our company and there are a lot of amazing tools that I utilize very often. Particular the Open Site Explorer.

I would highly suggest finding SEO services on WickedFire.com. DigitalPoint and WarriorForums are terrible and usually filled with noobs and hardcore scammers. If you want article submissions  I would highly suggest Article Marketing Robot, and get Bypass Captcha or Decapther for captcha services. You can find people on Fiverr.com to make very good and unique versions of your article with spinner syntax, if you want I can give you people who do it for me.

I usually write my own content because many of the individuals (the ones I find on DigtailPoint) working for link brokers are sitting in India, Indonesia or other far-East countries and I have to end up re-writing the content anyways due to such bad sentence structure. Also I'm not a big fan of spun articles at all - so I just write my own, doesn't take that long to be honest, are entirely unique and I've gotten used to it by now.

Thanks for the site WickedFire.com - never heard of it before, will check it out tomorrow at work. At the moment I need some high quality blog sites that are related to the health industry and as well as business, home and food related. I've never used Fiverr for article content and definitely not for any link-building "packages" - they seem a bit too dodgy to me! But is there anyone in specific on Fiverr that does good articles for you no a variety of industry topics? Thanks for the input.

I was invited to a Google conference on May 12th here in Toronto - exclusively held for businesses that have account managers at Google and got a good few insiders in terms of organic rankings. Currently, the +1 button for Google is being rolled out slowly onto other countries and it will be a huge factor in getting your organic rankings higher as well. Though overall, I felt the conference was more of a sales pitch for business owners that were new to Google's tools to use AdWords and their Display Network a bit more aggressively.

Interesting info about googles upcoming changes. I hope this doesn't affect rankings too much and seems there might be a lot of space for abuse if they do go through with it (buying likes would become an industry on its own lol).

Anyhow I get most of my articles done from The Content Authority. Most of them are good quality if you specify it, I often get great article in the cheapest package. I only usually get my articles spun by people on fiverr and they usually do a very good job (grammatically correct etc), if you want to know the people I use I can show you.

^It costs $50 USD (my company covered the cost) - and you can give it here.

Even more than the Analytics, it is the AdWords Fundamentals and any other additional AdWords exam that really gets you noticed. I thought the Analytics exam was pretty easy to be honest.

Thank you brother and I'm really sorry that I didn't wished you congratulations on passing exam :). I think Adwords is the most noticable certificate that a person can do, but what if you fail the exam you don't have to pay the $50? I read from there that in order to get the certificate you have to pay $50 but it didn't say anywhere that making exam will cost. Am I right?

Do you guys know about the SES Conference?

It is taking place in Toronto this year, I went today and will be going tomorrow as well. A lot of industry gurus and speakers are present; however the more I indulge in this field, I feel as if at the end of the day it's all the same thing! They just take one little thing and make it into a big issue and topic of discussion - when in reality there isn't much to it. On top of that, they make money off of it - but I guess that's how a lot of businesses and industries work!

I attended the following sessions on day 1:

  • Keynote Speaker - Amber Mac (this was cool; I used to watch her show on G4Tech TV when I was a kid lol)
  • The Basics of Link Building
  • Enterprise Level SEO
  • Managing Your Online Reputation
  • Keyword Forensics - Exploring the Hidden Keywords that Many SEO's Miss
  • Meet the Experts: Round Table Forum

You're luck that they held Internet Marketing events there :D. Here in Finland they never had any kind of internet marketing events. But that would cool to go and listen about those topics :). Maybe I should go sometimes to internet marketing events held in Europe, such in London, Germany and in France :D
