And I (Allaah) created not the jinns and humans, except they should worship Me (Alone). [al-Dhaariyaat 51:56]
O assembly of jinns and mankind! Did there not come to you Messengers from amongst you, reciting unto you My Verses? [al-An'aam 6:130]
Verily he [Shaytaan] and his qabeeluhu [his soldiers from the jinn or his tribe] see you from where you cannot see them. [al-A'raaf 7:27]
And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame o fire. [al-Hijr 15:27]
And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. [al-Rahmaan 55:15]

Jinns are around us and have been since before our existence. Jinn possessions do occur. Individuals who suffer from schizophrenia and other disorders are said to be possessed by jinns.
One thing to consider is that black magic is closely related to jinns. In the way that if sorcery is used it usually often involves the use of jinns to carry out the "dirty" work. Such as ordering a jinn to possess someone, to cause harm to someone or to scare someone.
Here is a really good E-Book to read, I've read it myself including tonnes of online posts and also through talking with people I know.
http://www.kalamulla.../JinnDevils.pdf
@0feedmeplz
My view on why they happen in uneducated societies, is because uneducated societies tend to be rural areas. So therefore if we take for instance a area that has a lot of open space, it may have a small population. So therefore there are more likely to be jinn among them. Jinns are more likely to reside in rural areas and areas of small population. Also taking into account that societies that are uneducated and superstitious could mean that they are highly religious instead. Now the unbelieving jinn for some reason would possess or disturb the people with faith in God.
I can't tell you why they do it. However they just do. Among the jinn are those that believe in God and those that don't. Just like us humans some of us believe in God and some of us don't. Now we also have a lot of criminals and individuals who carry out black magic i.e. contact with the "outside" world with jinns etc. This has been forbidden by God. Therefore for this same reason jinn also deviate and they have the ability to possess us appear to us and scare us etc.
Salaam aleykom
first, are you calling me brother?? if yes, sorry, I'm a girl
and thanx alot for the link, really interesting, I will read it inshallah
and about that jinns dont believe, I also wonder why they dont, it should be easier for them..we have limited 5 senses, but for them, if they see us, if thier world is different it's probably more evidence of the existence of Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì..no??
many thanx

I am terribly sorry sister, I often get confused with names :/.
Well not really "easier" for them to believe. They live in the same world as we do, on this earth. Except that what I've read we are not able to see them in their true form (as apparently it is truly unbearable), but they can see us, unless they were to "shape-shift" into a different form. Although we can hear them. However nevertheless as I said earlier they are similar to us in terms of the way we live, yet many of us don't believe in God.
Also the jinn where sent prophets as well I'm not sure whether they were sent the same "human" prophets as we received or others, however apparently they too had their prophets.
[Pickthal 6:130] O ye assembly of the jinn and humankind! Came there not unto you messengers of your own who recounted unto you My tokens and warned you of the meeting of this your Day? They will say: We testify against ourselves. And the life of the world beguiled them. And they testify against themselves that they were disbelievers.
[Pooya/Ali Commentary 6:130]
Aqa Mahdi Puya says:
Minkum (from among you) indicates that messengers of Allah had also been sent to the jinn (a separate people) because the Quran says: "We have sent a guide to every people." As man is superior to all the created beings the messengers sent to the jinn must have worked under the human-prophets, but the Holy Prophet was the sole guide for all the created beings, men, jinn and angels, and for this reason the jinn have been addressed in the Quran - Ahqaf : 29; Rahman : 33; Jinn : 1.
This could explain the same reasons why there are jinns who believe and don't as its a similar scenario to us humans?

Here's a thread that I started long time ago of why not to be over curious about jins. Leave them alone and use your energies for the knowledge of self and for Allah and you will gain a whole lot more.

@dawud
thanks alot brother..and it's ok..I don't expect the word inception to be feminine...
you are saying they have free choice..ok. but still I think it should be easier for them to "believe" because they can see us, the y can see another "dimension" if you like to call it, that doesnt have the same ability...so this per se is a strong evidence that there is a Creator..isn't it??
and yes, I know Allah (swt) sent prophets even for them, they have thier owns, but even our prophets can have among thier responsiblities to guide jinns..
it's still questioned IF there is and WHY there is this interaction between the two worlds?? it's harmful for both of us, apparently. I mean jinns obsession , if it's true, totally uncool, really scary..and if we can trap jinns in stones, and they do what we want them to do??? that's also unethical!!
what is true and what is not true, you think??
@waiting for him
thanks brother for the link..and I see what you mean
but first, alhamdlillah, I'm curious... not obsessed..it's like you ask how does rain happen (if you haven't learn it in school as to say)..then you get an explanation..then you say, oh..so it's not poseidon sending us greetings.. or something..then I'm cool, I don't need to think about it anymore..
and knowledge prevents superstition..honestly, all these stories we hear, and micheal jackson's spirit here or there...this is lack of knowledge..
knowledge makes you aware, enlightened (if there is a wisdom in things)..and you will not be scared of them..and your fear will not cause you paralysis instead of reciting Ayat elKursi when you feel scared...because you know about them and understand what is possible and what is not..what is haraam to believe and what is ok to know or ask..I mean why Allah (swt) mention them in Quran?? so that we know, but it's haram to interfere in thier world....
like sihr (magic/sorcery)...Allah (swt) mention it and tell us its haram, and He also sent angels to teach us that..so Allah (swt) gave us the information and knowledge to test us..so we should knwo and avoid..not know and go for it...
"Ignorance creates superstition and thereby we will be slaves to our own ignorance.." M.E.
thanx
cheers

Demonic Power and hence "possession" are a christian fantasy --but not all christians believe in possession even in some seminaries.
And, as the Quran reveals, the prophets(as) were also accussed by the heathens of being possessed.
There is no power except Allah(swt)
What they call 'possession' only reflects a lack of medical knowledge.

You know, just for security reasons I want to say "No".
I don't want you to go out looking for demons and find yourself in a wooden hut with weird snake-like creatures curling around you...
and an old man with a large stick wearing red robes and a bat on his shoulder.
No
Rather than listen to some people here on the forum I would go to the Qur'an which has True information.
Read Surah "Jinn". it is number 72
Read surah Rahman.
Read Surah Falaq which is number 113.

I wouldn't be so quick to call it a Christian fantasy.
Saying there is no power except Allah is like saying there is no light except the sun.
I know for a fact it's more than a lack of medical knowledge. To see a woman go from ranting, raving, and beating her husband to sitting quiet and wondering what just happened took prayer not drugs.

Yes they are possessed - but not in the way you are thinking.
People who have gone deep in to sin and misguidance are possessed by the desires and weaknesses of their own soul, they have let them selves be totally driven by desires and the whispers of shaytan and the speech/promises of evil human beings.
In that sense they are completely "possessed"

Excellent point, Al Mufeed. You place responsibility back upon the person and allow for the exercise of free will against the influence of Shaytan.

So, are jinns the same as the "minions" of Satan, as some Christians believe, or are they hapless spirits that wander about making nuisances of themselves? Or both?

one of my ants that lives in mid southern mexico is possesed or inflicted with black magic she is a catholic and before she was a good girl then at the age of 18 it started happening she started seeing a tall man in from of her bedroom with red eyes, death owls falling on her lap while at the plasa with friends and many other strange animals seeing by the family inside the house, once my mom told me she would see fire balls , and once she said that with the knowledge that Allah swt has giving me i know now that those were jinns, So guys i ask you to do dua for my chuya (chooyaa) she is now 40 yrs old and is still under demonic possesion or spells since she was only 17 or 18 , this is serious and not just any tale or movie, May Allah swt releave her inshallah from the evil of shaitan.

Allah (swt) has created man the best of His creation, and jinns (or demons according to the Bible) are made lower than us, which is why shaytaan had to bow down to Prophet Adam
When a human being lowers themselves spiritually and morally they become the same levels or lower than jinns, basically they're not living up to their abilities as human beings and muslims. When this happens, it becomes easier to tempt them and influence them.
I dont think a jinn can possess a human being by entering them, but maybe they can influence a mind that is already weak (which is kinda what shaytaan does anyway).
Then again, some people believe that people doing witchcraft use jinns to harm people or get what they want from people by offering them a sacrifice (you can see this in Disney movies like Aladdin, little mermaid) and so people think that they can use those jinns to 'possess' (or influence) others. AlHamdulillah i havent come across any possessions, although i have encountered some paranormal activity...

Islam does not teach that there are "demons".
What you imagine about "possession" is like anorexia miriablis -> when in Europe's Mid-Evil
What Islam teaches is that a shatan can only suggest "from a place you cannot see" (id est behind you). It can only talk but nothing else.
Christians --the evilgelical variety- need "demonic power" for several reasons. To include: exlaining disease; explain mental illness or incapacity/diminished capacity; and to pretend that a demon has "power" : then when a satan says 'son of god' in the New Testament then that implies 'authority' and 'knowledge' <-but you have to ignore Gospel of John Chapter 8 to pretend this (where Isa(as) teaches the Shatan is a liar and the "father of lies".
So if your bed starts shaking at night, it must be a 'planetoid disturbance', as the Trekkies say. (If you saw the movie)

...so then medication ofcourse will be able to put that imbalance straight again no doubt about that.... BUT only for a limited time as the enslaved jinn will return to keep doing his job (whatever that is). THAT is why schizophrenics will have to stay on the medication for life and as soon as they stop taking it the jinn will alter their brain again.
I agree with others other here. very rarely will a jinn be doing these things independently because they have families etc and very busy in their own lives. It is only enslaved ones who carry out the orders of witch doctors. so yes you get humans who are shaytans themselves for doing this kind of things and we blame the enslaved jinn.
if you visit http://www.jinndemons.com/ it tells u alot about this kind of thing.

Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?
Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
Judge not, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgement you judge, you will be judged also; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
