Arabs are witness, there has never been no rivalry as epic as the Bhutto khandan vs the Gandhi farmhouse

These Khandans and their paidawar take centre stage again, in Mohali of all places

Its going to be the unpredictably brilliant, mercurial and audacious carnivores vs the hard working, soft spoken statistics gathering herbivores.

Historically, Pakistan has dominated India when it comes to the gentlemen's game, here are the statistics:

As of 23 March 2011.

Tests ODIs Twenty20

Matches played 59 117 2
Won by Pakistan 12 67 0
Won by India 9 46 2
Draw/Tie 38 4 0

India has beaten Pakistan though in all 4 world cup encounters : (

Hopefully the old pros will be back at it again:

I don't watch cricket, but I have a bad feeling the Indians will take it by a small notch, irregardless of the draws XD.

Well best of luck, given that the h2h's are very tight (mostly draws for both sides), you never know, this could be Pakistan's finest hour, to get their first upset at that World Cup.

I have a fear that the Pakistani team is leaning towards radicalization, i have no bases for this assumption except that really scary looking beard of the team captain, what do you guys think?
And by radicalization I'm not talking about playing the match with dedication, i mean religious ideology

It seems if either Pakistan or India, were to win it. It would add fuel to the fire, for this rivalry.

Apparently both of them have shared a victory at the WC a piece. Both have shared a runner up a piece.

I'm assuming whomever reaches the final, or better yet, were to capture the entire thing, would rub in the others face.

What's wrong with his beard? It looks pretty normal to me.
And they serve beside Allah what can neither harm them nor profit them, and they say: These are our intercessors with Allah. Say: Do you (presume to) inform Allah of what He knows not in the heavens and the earth? Glory be to Him, and supremely exalted is He above what they set up (with Him). [Qur'an 10:18, Shakir translation]

Now, surely, sincere obedience is due to Allah (alone) and (as for) those who take guardians besides Him, (saying), We do not serve them save that they may make us nearer to Allah, surely Allah will judge between them in that in which they differ; surely Allah does not guide him aright who is a liar, ungrateful. I can't wait for the day!

Yes, it's true IND has always won a world cup encounter against PK buttttt....just as the carnivores eat up the Kangaroos after 12 years so I can be sure enuff that they are capable of changing history, again.

Victory makes one's blind to one's weaknesses. Let's not forget that fact. PK have had awesome wins against AUST and WI but this team is still capable of producing an absolute collapse for itself. I hope they can carry on with the momentum they've gained in the last two matches. We've seen that in one of the T20 Cups (which PK won). They are capable of doing that too.

I really wanted IND to win the quarter. Not because I was desperate to see IND vs PK encounter but wanted to see AUST knocked out. Something told me that "IF" PK had to play AUST again in the semi they (PK) wouldn't be able to pull the same feat they did in the group match. You can only do that ONCE. Playing against IND, however, is going to be a totally new thing, and I believe this will psychologically pump the PK to perform well.

Bhooka Bhairiya loves cricket.

If there are two valleys, and Seyyed Ali Khamenei himself walked arm-in-arm with Bhooka into one valley, I would walk into the other.

You Indians and Pakis need to be careful who you associate yourselves with.

They better bring Shoaib Akhtar in to play and if Pakistan loses Waqar Younis may find himself dead the next day like Woolmer and if Pakistan loses be prepared for a Big war with India they deliberately made Pakistan not host this semi final because it was in Pakistan's schedule to host this match and the home crowd advantage india will get is unacceptable.
Pakistan batting is weak Indian batting is strong Pakistan bowling is better than Indian bowling. I am not even going to bother watch other two quarter finals my body is not ready for the India Pakistan clash.

+1

Putting the crazy Pakistani fan passion aside everything seems to go in India's favor. On paper and field they are a better team. The kind of batting they have and with only one strike baller on Pakistan's side it seems quite difficult. Hopefully some Pakistani batsmen can find their true form and also improve their fielding.

I support Pakistan, but Pakistan might lose this Semi Final against India, due to fear of riots in India, but ALLAAH IS THE ALMIGHTY & EXALTED.

LOL what? Pakistan might lose for the fear of riots in India? Did you actually say that??

The kind of batting they have and with only one strike baller on Pakistan's side it seems quite difficult.

Come one. PK has more than one strike bowlers. Shoaib and Gul to begin with, and then we have the leading wicket taker of the tournament, Afridi himself. Add to that Ajmal and Razzaq.

PK has got so far due to their bowling attack. It would be a test for Indian batting. It's the PK batting that worries me, and yes, elder Akmal worries me too. :squeez:

Thats only IF they play shoaib. And yeah razzaq is there but he is not as reliable due to slower pace...it might be easier to strike him if he isnt 100% accurate. As for the spin...yeah its been successful so far but India plays spin better...so its not a given that they might perform just as well. All depends on the accuracy and hard work. Pakistan would need to give more than 100% to beat India.

NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD:

India on Friday invited Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to watch the high-voltage semi-final clash between the two countries at Mohali on March 30.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tehmina Janjua confirmed receiving two separate invitation letters — one apiece for the president and the premier — from India.

Janjua said it wa Is premature to comment on which of the two leaders would fly tondia to watch the game, as a final decision was still awaited.

However, sources say that Gilani is likely to join his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh at Mohali stadium.

“I propose to be at Mohali to watch the World Cup semi-final match between India and Pakistan to be held on March 30. There is huge excitement over the match and we are all looking forward to a great game of cricket that will be a victory for sport. It gives me great pleasure to invite you to visit Mohali and join me and the millions of fans from our two countries to watch the match,” Singh said in his letters to Zardari and Gilani.

There is sooo much hype in Pak media you just can't believe it. And today two unusual teams from India and Pakistan played a match in Pakistan today.

Indian High Commission Islamabad vs. Lahore Chambers of Commerce played a T20 match

LCC won by 9 wickets. IHC put up a target of 106 runs.

It was a sight watching Indian High Commission bureaucrats running b/w the wickets with big paunches.

If Pakistan loses, this may very well be my last post on ShiaChat - because I'll probably would have left this world due to a heart attack!

Just for the record however, the last time India & Pakistan played was in 2007 in Mohali, and this is what happened:

India, Pakistan mind games begin before cricket super show

"My advice to the Indian team is to take sleeping pills, otherwise they won't be able to sleep," added Imran in his Hindustan Times column.

IMRAN paijee Indian team will answer you with bat and bowl..

"If India were going to win the World Cup, this is their best chance," said Imran Khan, who captained the 1992 Pakistan title-winning team.

Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has already made it clear that his side will target Indian superstar Sachin Tendulkar who needs one more century to complete 100 international hundreds.

However, Pakistan manager Intikhab Alam, a former Test skipper and coach, has appealed for calm.

"Let it remain as cricket and don't make us feel as if we are standing on a war front," he said.
