Saam Alaikum sisters!!! (and random brothers?)

I'm really bored with my hijab, i need different styles to wear!!

Alright let me start by describing how i wear my hijab....

1) very simple, soft colors not very bright  but nice patterns
2) rectangle scarf, wrap it around and pin it on the side
3) very quick and simple

alright im bored with it, i dont like the youtube vids because most of them add all these scarf flowers and scarf braids, i think thats nice for a family gathering or something but not for everyday school/work

So help?? thanks for any advice sisters

Please i hope you're being sarcastic, i would never take off my hijab for a reason like that, or any reason really :/

Sis you don't need to watch those youtube vids.. its all about experimenting, thats how i figured everything out Sit down with all your scarves and experiment away!


I personally dont like lace or any of that textured stuff, the most i will wear is silk. Otherwise I experiment with colours because for me its the hijab that makes the outfit... If you have a nice rectangular scarf that is seethrough or beaded or something, wear the longer piece of those two piece scarves so your hair is covered and then loosely drape the rectangular scarf so its nice and flowy.

I also like to wear silk scarfs and do it khaleeji style (not to big), so its nice and comfy on the head and its covering at the same time
Also you could wear it how you normally would, pinned to the side and all but when you finish, get the long remaining part of your scarf and pin the corner of it all the way to your back (if that makes sense) so that it is left draped at the front. Thats good if your wearing plain colours or something.

Anyways, hope that wasn't too confusing

I wear the wrap scarves, not the the square ones or triangular ones.......I like them a lot better, I dont like when there is a lot of fabric going on..... but i think just experimenting is the best way to go and you will find a new style that is still within Islamic guidlines and suits you the best!!! My vote always goes to something simple lol

To the OP I just wear the simple shala (wrap around one) I wear it a bit loose though so I can breath and move comfortably. The flowery colorful hejiabs is like so overrated, plus I can never pull it off, bs mashalla I see some girls make it look gorgeous. Hijabi's on youtube make amazing tutorials, however i never tried any styles, I like the way I do mine just fine, plus I never have time.

I agree with the simple stuff too, anything simple and pretty is good for me hamdillah
and yeah the vids on youtube are really amazing, i admire those girls for their creative hijab ideas but i could never pull that off, and as one sister said there's just no time to do all that fancy stuff!!
It's really busy in the mornings, either with catching the bus for school or dealing with kids so most days i just wrap, pin, and GO! ahahah xD

Now i need to find some spare time to experiment with hijab styles xD  inshallah !!

so do u mean they are unemployed house wifes? I have noticed house wifes are more efficient then the ladies, working outdoor.

That kind of hijab is not ideal for a woman living in the West who goes to school and/or work, and a woman can be efficient in the home and outside the home. If you dont have anything nice to say, dont say it.

I always wear square silk hijabs now from Lebanon (they're larger than Turkish silk scarves) and use them as the focal point of my outfit. They're great because they're simple, modest, covering, and VERY easy to wear. I can take them off really quickly to do wudu pretty much anywhere. They also look good no matter what. All I do is fold the scarf into a triangle shape, larger or smaller depending on how I want it to look, put it on my head (with an 'amta underneath, or the first piece of an amira hijab) and fold it from both sides to pin it in the middle at my neck. Then to cover up to my chin I fold a bit from one of the sides and pin it low on the other side. It's really Lebanese.

You set it so one side is longer than the other, then fold the front in a bit so you have a softer edge to frame your face, then wrap away - twice for myself, because I don't like dangling, asymmetrical ends and it's easier to move around when it's situated solely on your head, but others like to leave one side hanging down their shoulder.

As you described the efforts in searching, shopping, procuring, wrapping, folding, pinning, why don't accept the easy and traditional hijab/veil as shown.

I do the same! I wear the cotton under hat that I tie at the end.. so I get two colors, and it's perfect coz nothing moves out of place lool.. u can try doing two different hijabs together as layers.. I've seen few girls with the flower hijabs.. some looked cute, and others just looked funny I personally won't bother I just make sure the hijab itself is nice with cool colors

Why hate on everybody?

Just because we wear hijabs a certain way or of a certain style doesn't mean it's not modest. These are things girls notice and like, but don't necessarily have to be attractive to guys.

Wrong, ALL GUYS (including me as well of course) find these stylish hijabs EXTREMELY attractive and arousing (any guy who says otherwise is either a liar or wears black shoes). It's just not right for women to tease us like this.

I have to agree with the above point
Most guys, even if they are not Muslim, are "attracted" to Hijab, even if you wear full abaya and wear "proper" hijab, meaning no bright colors or patterns
I've personally been attacked this way, i will literally be wearing abaya and guys will give me the same looks as the girl next to me in the short skirt
what can we really do about it? nothing
as long as its properly placed on the head (no hair showing, no excessive makeup, etc...) and the colors/patterns are not too attracting then *in my opinion* that should be fine
we cant do much about the looks and "attracting" men, as long as we keep our modesty in check, dress properly and speak/walk in a modest manner then we cant be held accountable for those looks they give us, as long as our intentions are pure too inshallah

sis nouret do mean to say that a hijabi is the same as a girl in short skirt......... i dont agree with you here.......... my personal feelings are that a hijabi woman is treated more respectfully than a non hijabi provided the hijab is proper....... peopple cant stare at a hijabi women's legs the way they do at one wearing a skirt

In the Quran, men are instructed to lower their gaze and guard their modesty before women are told to do so.  I love this passage as it's so simple and yet speaks to so many issues on various levels.  The biggest one that stands out to me is that men must guard themselves from their own impure and lustful thoughts.  This means that if they're attracted to a woman wearing a headscarf, even one that's plain and black, he should remove his gaze from that woman and seek Allah's help to try to not be attracted to it in such a way.  It is fundamentally wrong for any man to blame a woman because he is attracted to her headscarf, I might even go so far as to call it a fetish.

Hijab (inner and outer) is a gift from Allah, given to women to help them guard their modesty.  I feel sad for men as they don't have this option and simply have to rely on their own inner strength and relationship with Allah to get them past such temptations, however, blaming the woman for his attraction to her is simply wrong for any man to do, so long as she is trying to guard her modesty the best way she knows how.

Personally, I wear a black, one-piece amira hijab and then layer a long scarf over it (usually a solid colour).  That way I get good air circulation (cotton amiras are win) and am still fully covered top to bottom.

I'm sorry sis i think what i said was misunderstood a little, you're right a hijabi and a non hijabi are not the same
But that dosen't stop men from looking at hijabis
Men can be really disgusting, and im sure many sisters like myself have experience being looked at flirtatiously by a man, even when we are obseriving modest hijab

That's so true!  Since I reverted to Islam and started wearing hijab I've actually started having a real problem with men approaching me and asking me out.  It's especially bad when I'm at work, so much so that my manager (Allah bless and keep him) has had to ask people to leave the store because they were harassing me.

You can't really say this is proof of what hijab is. Hijab is what it is as Allah (swt) has commanded not as how Muslims carry this out.
