A very dear friend of mine is a follower of the Dawoodi Bohra faith and suffers from depression.

It has not only greatly affected him, but also the lifes of his friends and family members.

Is there any dua he can recite that can help him?

I am aware that Bohras have some duas exclusive to them.

If anyone here follows that faith, and provide me any dua's or prayers, I will be forever thankful.

Regards,

A brother in need

Wow. This group of people really run from the Qur'an like Umar&Co. ran from battles.

I hope your friend is also seeking medical advice for his severe depression, supplications alone wont work if he's not helping himself to get better. All measures should be taken, spiritual, physical, emotional etc..

The best supplication that always worked for me when I'm feeling really down is duaa almashlool, it works wonders. One must be on wudhoo in order to recite this duaa.

Here's the link to its audio:

Duas for depression? There's none. Try medications and professional help instead.

Be patient and and establish regular prayer as Allah SWT has said in 2:153:

"O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient."

Do remember Allah SWT constantly as He has said in 13:28:

"Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah . Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured."

Seek forgiveness abundantly and do not give up hope as Allah SWT has said in 39:53:

"Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.' "
