Brother, I doubt very much if many muslims like or approve of tatoos, but I think the point people are trying to make is that we are not allowed to pass judgements on what is halal or haram based on our personal opinion. For you to insist on tatoos being haram the way you are, would need to be backed up by more than personal opinion. Aside from tatoos and ear rings, I hate men who die their hair stupid colours, but that doesn't mean I am allowed to go round saying that because Allah didn't creat men with green or pink hair, its haram.

if you read my quote oyu would know that I did not say tatoos  are haram because they are unsightly, they are haram, because they cause and mutilate the skin and they permanently alter they way Allah SWT made you.  please(!) read the text properly next time

maybe tatoos do not block your wudhu, but they are considered haram becuase they mutliate your skin and are painful.  this is what the westerners like to do and it seems that some muslims like to do this.  tatoos are unsightly and i do not think it is permissible to have ink drawn all over your body.
Considered haram by who? Can you name some scholars that back up your opinion? Do you have any hadiths to back this up?
And they serve beside Allah what can neither harm them nor profit them, and they say: These are our intercessors with Allah. Say: Do you (presume to) inform Allah of what He knows not in the heavens and the earth? Glory be to Him, and supremely exalted is He above what they set up (with Him). [Qur'an 10:18, Shakir translation]

Now, surely, sincere obedience is due to Allah (alone) and (as for) those who take guardians besides Him, (saying), We do not serve them save that they may make us nearer to Allah, surely Allah will judge between them in that in which they differ; surely Allah does not guide him aright who is a liar, ungrateful. [Qur'an 39:3, Shakir translation]

I follow your logic,  but it's still your logic, logical as it might be. Can you quote any scholars, or verses from qur'an to back it up.
I agree with you, people shouldn't get tatoos, but I still think technicaly, they are allowed

can you quote any hadiths or surahs from the quran to say that they are allowed?  I think the point is that they PERMANENTLY ALTER THE WAY Allah MADE YOU so therefore it is considered HARAM.  OK just like cosmetic surgery (unless for health reasons)

That guy sounds like a sunni, hmm lemme guess you think that plucking eyebrows is haram tooo??

Sorry for invading your privacy brothers, but I couldn't stand not replying.

Oh and to the OP I don't see much wrong in it and it sometimes suites people (with only one slit not many). But honestly speaking, I wouldn't like to see it on my brother and so I wouldn't wanna encourage you to do it.

Alhamdulilah

We shouldn't try to be like the ignorant people... what sort of example would we be setting?

These people goto clubs and get drunk and have sex with strangers... I don't want to wear baggy pants like them or cut my eyebrows or get piercings and tattooes... it's not cool, it's not nice, there's nothing good to come from it.

Just be yourself, don't try to blend in with others, don't try to style yourself, just be natural and clean, that's the best for everyone.

And you will have the most confidence this way, when you are content and happy with yourself without modification, then you will have the highest self-esteem and people will find you very friendly and nice to be around.

Otherwise, you would be a poser! lol

Just ask yourself seriously, what is the point of all of this fashion and nonsense? You going to cut your eyebrows and wear baggy pants when you're 80 years old and say "Yo sup dog?" lol

I prefer the love and respect of Muhammad(sawws) and his Ahlul Bayt(a) and the true believers and Allah before the love/respect of misguided people. We are meant to be a beacon of light in the darkness for people, we are known by our kind deeds, polite behaviour, and soft speech... that is Islam bro, that is how people come to Islam...

Hopefully someone benefits from reading this.

Wow i loved your post, thanks :)

One word.

Gay.

In my humble opinion, there should be a new forum other than Brothers and Sisters. We could call it the "Girlyman / Mangirl forum". Such threads should be moved there. All the threads like "masturbation", "pierced nose for men", "am I a sissy?", etc. should be moved there. It's revolting to see them here.

Slits in Eyebrows started off mainly in gang culture, was possibly meant to mean the number of people you killed. It has since changed to be a fashion symbol. As a hang over from gang culture, its still mainly popular with young lads ( and some girls!! ) of African-American or Afro-Caribbean background. Dont see it that much in other ethnic groups.

You might see it in certain ethnic groups that try to imitate Afro-American or Afro-Caribbean culture.

In the area I live, they are quite popular with a huge number of wannabe gangsters with backgrounds from the sub-continent.

I thought slits in eyebrows were caused by the barber when he slipped or dropped his trimmer and it brushed past the eyebrow on its way down.

Hmm that could possibly be its origin
