@ sister bi_ithnillaah, sister, i agree with you for the most part, but you also shouldn't assume that nothing a bit "unethical" (for want of a better word) goes on in religious circles, I'm not sure if this story was authentic http://iwpr.net/repo...a-establishment it was the one about Sayed as-Sistani's aid who done mut'a with loads of different girls, and filmed it on his phone, then the videos got out, and it was a big scandal. Just because that is halal, in that case, it is also a sign of being a bit perverted, to film it and look at it, and who knows what else. That's my opinion anyway

(wasalam)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying nothing unethical ever happens in religious circles, unethical things are often justified using religion by many different people of different religious affiliations; my problem was his generalization of all hawdha female students not being virgins and on top of that not being trustworthy and so he wouldn't want to marry one for that reason. As a female who is planning inshaa Allaah, bi-ithnillaah, to go overseas and study in a hawdha soon, I found it very insulting for someone to make that sort of generalization about me and people I know.

How interesting. Even if these women DO engage in mutah, so what? Aren't guys here always going on about how halal it is? Now that the shoe's on the other foot... :shifty:

I agree, generalisation get us nowhere, we don't like it when the salafis say all shi'a worship graves, zil jinnah, etc, so we shouldn't generalise amongst ourselves.
Good luck with your endeavours, may Allah reward you insha'Allah

You know what, this is a bit controversial,  but I agree, it is pure hypocracy to go around talking about how halal it is,but only for men. I personally wouldn't have a problem marrying a girl who had done a mut'a. Of course, if she is some serial mut'ist(?) that is different story, as I'm sure a sister, would not really want to marry a man who does a mut'a every week.
But it is not a good idea to look down on people just because they have done some thing halal, even recommended by some narrations

I will repeat, there is hardly any information on that topic and you are cannot judge a woman's intentions based on a few minuet details, and shouldn't be judging her at all actually.

The kiss on the cheek comment was regarding Christian girls, not Muslim, and considering how they do not consider their religion to be holding them from kissing and the likes, then that's actually a lot to say about university age girls in America.

Sister - "shermin" is "ali the lion" from another account. He has multiple accounts which he sometimes uses to reply to his own posts lol. "siti" is another of his accounts. Check the poetry forums.

The best thing to do is to ignore this individual.

lol, what is the point in doing such a thing? this is by and large a forum where most likely most people don't know each other, especially as the individual has used a name where people wouldn't know him, so what is the point in being in agreement with yourself? very strange

That is strange indeed. I think there is more to it than play. One needs self-assurances that are otherwise not available. One needs a sense of satisfaction that is otherwise lacking in real life even if it comes at the cost of self-conceit.

Maybe you could just be a bit more open minded, there are good and bad people everywhere. I kind of know what you mean about generalisations, sometimes, you just meet so many idiots who come from one country, often you are also from that country, and you just loose hope, but still, it most likely just bad luck,  no matter what country it is, there are always good people

Someone asked me about this today so did some searching and found this:

Ayatullah Khamenei:

Q: Is it permissible for women, despite their need for proper covering, to ride bicycles and motor bikes? If so, please list the conditions.

A: A women must avoid circumstances and actions which require her to be self-conscious of her appearance in front of ghairul-mahram. Riding a bicycle or motor bike in a public place, by a pedestrian walkway, or in view of others leads to corruption (in light of fulfilling the above mentioned criteria), and thus, is not permissible.

http://www.islam-pur...questions.htm#- Permissibility of women riding bicycles and motor bikes

Maybe it is possible to invent a way to implement good hijab with a bicycle?

Before anyone starts condemning that fatwa, I must remind people that Islam is quite strict on similar issues:

24:31  .... and let them not strike their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known; and turn to Allah all of you, O believers! so that you may be successful.

If stamping feet so that anklets should not be heard is haraam then what can we say about things like the so called burquini?

Yes you can. It's a mode of transport/type of exercise and leisure activity.

I bought a new bike last week and cycling is great and beneficial in so many ways.

lol We Pakistanis share a similar example quite often:

Arabs used to test Imam Ali, "Do you know the name of my father ?"

And Imam Ali would reply, "Do you want me to name the well known or your actual father ?"

And if it was a western scholar, he would have asked Imam Ali, "How do i conquer the Sun?"
---------------------------

Joke aside, I don't see anything wrong in knowing the answer to this question. I do however have issues when us Muslims only/mostly focus on these kinda questions.
