Untitled by Peace
It reads like a dream
A collection of images
Amidst our serene life
A puddle of sorrow
When we think of your strife,
Anna Ali ibn Hussain Ibn Ali
By the House of Allah, we are the Prophet's nearest kin
I will keep attacking you with my lance till you mow me down
I will strike you by my sword that was given to me by my father, with the strokes of a hashimite youth
By Allah the son of adultery shall not rule over us
Your father had no strength, he crawled on the sand,
his elbows dragging his body
to your bleeding side,
O my son,
what made them so bold
against the Merciful Allah
as to commit such sacrilege against the Holy Prophet.
May Allah slay the people who slew you.
After you, the world is worthless.
He kissed your beard, when you were sleeping the previous nights
Now he lay his cheek on yours
At the end of your life.
shall be called away (by Allah) and I shall answer that call. I am
leaving for you two precious things and if you adhere both of them,
you will never go astray after me. They are the Book of Allah and my
progeny, that is my Ahlul-Bayt. The two shall never separate from each
other until they come to me by the Pool (of Paradise)."

Perfume by Ha min
orphaned
(at the doorstep)
the sweet heady scent intoxicating
i breathe deep and escape, in an instant
traversing starlit skies and earths expansive
towards their soft, caring, embrace
eyes half closed and blurring with tears
for a second, i live both realities --
their enveloping cloak of love, hiding, protecting me;
this cold exposing solitude, and empty, lonely pain.
Acid Rain by numb
beyond shadows beyond names beyond blame
berry blue shame in black slain
acid rained
deeper down the drop
he dropped
and felt as much
...no rush
sweet pain
she had come again
acidrain
beyond calling beyond falling beyond any remains
blue bleeds blood in vain
acid rains
secrets they stole
from black holes
of the last show
...go slow
fall below
her afterglow
and theres nowhere to go
only the sweetest sting
remains....
acid rain

I liked that poem by Peace because its one of hers where there is a switiching of personna between stanzas and in this case it's done very well. Aswell as it being an incredibly sad and shock inducing poem.

I wish I was as free as those birds to dedicate a hundred songs in your praise. I wish my every day could start with such warm opening to permit my soul to run its course. And its end so auspiciously grand To conclude every night with your beautiful praise.
this one really touched my heart today...
I apologize i have been away whole of 2009 so I didnt read all of the poems I can only read what "ppls" are suggesting here.
~This World is a laughter of a weeping Man - Imam Ali (as)
The foremost in religion is the acknowledgement of Him, the perfection of acknowledging Him is to testify Him, the perfection of testifying Him is to believe in His Oneness, the perfection of believing in His Oneness is to regard Him Pure, and the perfection of His purity is to deny Him attributes, because every attribute is a proof that it is different from that to which it is attributed and everything to which something is attributed is different from the attribute. Thus whoever attaches attributes to Allah recognises His like, and who recognises His like regards Him two; and who regards Him two recognises parts for Him; and who recognises parts for Him mistook Him; and who mistook Him pointed at Him; and who pointed at Him admitted limitations for Him; and who admitted limitations for Him numbered Him.

'O day, arise! The atoms are dancing.
Thanks to Him the universe is dancing.
The souls are dancing, overcome with ecstasy.
I'll whisper in your ear where their dance is taking them...
All the atoms in the air and in the desert Know well, they seem insane.
Every single atom, happy or miserable,
Becomes enamoured of the sun, of which nothing can be said'

What is it about you
http://www.shiachat....s-it-about-you/ - By Nadir
You are an amazing poet, one of my favorite poets (not limiting it to this forum). That poem reminded me of so many beautiful memories that I had tucked away. I wish I could pick more of yours.. but this one definitely has me coming back and rereading it. That, my talented friend, is the measure of a poet.

*Sigh* This poem brought back memories of being 14 years old and wrapped up in some book of Old English poetry.. trying to find something written by Wyatt because he was almost executed for loving the inconvenient Queen. I know I am going off on random tangents (what I do best) but this poem had a very exquisite ring to it that had me feeling nostalgic.

Absolutely lovely. Your poem filled me with a warm sense of belonging and contentment. I am sure it came from the heart.. your sincerity was overwhelming. Thank you for sharing it with us

I must say, the selection process was exciting with so many worthy poems. However, Zahratul_Islam poetry stood out so well that he was his own competition, winning first and second place with the two poems, Promises and Brainwashed.
http://www.shiachat....72-brainwashed/
http://www.shiachat....72640-promises/
Third place goes to GothicShia on the strength of a poem written for a lost son, An Ode to Cuteness touched many hearts.
http://www.shiachat....de-to-cuteness/
There was a tie for 3rd place. Malika's Call of Birds gives this poetry selection continuity with past selections. No one can be surprised; Malika's poetry is always selected by the readers as some of ShiaChat's finest.
http://www.shiachat....-call-of-birds/
Congratulation to all the poets selected. I feel that any one of them could represent ShiaChat's best. My final note is that this selection does not do justice to all the fine poetry posted in 2009. These poet's reward waits at the end of times. That should be the recognition that we poets all seek.
I will create a new forum that shows all selections made.
