^ Brother Basim, being 'junub' isn't the same as being on a period. Junubat is related to certain sexual activites and periods are the monthly menstration most women have. Some of the rulings apply to both states but not all. Allah wouldn't make it makrooh to eat or sleep throughout the whole duration of a woman's period!

sis Burdened, reciting prayer is one of the best things about being on a period! I sometimes find that I have more time to dedicate to supplication during this time and many sisters say that it keeps them close to Allah at a time when they are not praying namaz/salat.

shall be called away (by Allah) and I shall answer that call. I am
leaving for you two precious things and if you adhere both of them,
you will never go astray after me. They are the Book of Allah and my
progeny, that is my Ahlul-Bayt. The two shall never separate from each
other until they come to me by the Pool (of Paradise)."

I understand that quite well, dear sis Batool! :)
I just, forgot to take out the point which do not apply to a woman in her periods.

^ sorry if I sounded patronising! It is easy to confuse the rulings for each, I've done that before so thats why i thought maybe you did, sorry!

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I'm just curious... does anyone know why exactly there are certain things we can't do when we are junab, such as eating, sleeping, using oil, or drinking?  Has anything scientific been discovered for that?

since you cannot pray namaz in period it is recommended not to recite any duas while in period.

salam

u can read quran and duas,,

but i know that its makruh to read more than 7 ayat of quran.. its nothing bad if u read more while period..but u would get less hasanat.. so it would be much better to read it after period..

i donno if with duaa its the same but i guess so.

salam
