(salam)

I m planning to invite  some of my friends back from school for lunch at my place,  and few of them are hindus as well.

so my questions is, being a muslim ,  is it lawfully correct to  invite them over to my place to dine in?
(wasalam)
Yes - just make sure you wash their plates/glasses/cutlery properly afterwards as they are likely to become najis.

You can have whatever food you want so long as its halal
What makes it halal?

As long as it is not Pork or Alcohol.  Isn't that what matters?

It can't be najis either. Even if a piece of meat is halal, it cannot be eaten if it's najis.

I just read in the news today that the Dutch are trying to ban halal meat due to the animal cruelty involved.

Dutch consider banning religious animal slaughter

(salam) I hope i don't insult anyone with this  :o  . But my question is, are you allowed to eat food made my hindus/sikhs? & even chinese? like if its chutney, or in a restaurant ? or w/e.
My family usually doesnt and my friend does, so i wanted to let her know.  & to know for myself. [o & my friends is sunni but i still tell her this stuff. :)]
Thanks !

Not Allowed unless your life is in Danger. Eating Willingly Foods made by Mushriqs/Kafirs is Prohibited, your Prayers are not accepted by Allah for Forty days after consuming foods made by Non-Muslims, but this does't apply for Ahle-Kitaab's. Chinese Foods should be avoided because you will find Pig fat in allmost all of their Cusines

But thats kind of impossible because most food shops are owned by christians, hindus, chinese etc...

I completely agree: this kind of phobia of things touched by Jews and Christians and other non-Muslim, is a repulsive racism that is = or > than the Islamaphobia that some westerners have. Next thing you know muslims will be burning the bible and torah. (or as the Salafis are doing in Eygpty now, destroying the shrines of Holy Men)
Although i doubt any European Christians or Jews will slaughter Afghani aid workers in London when that happens.

Idiotic Hypocrisy

It's not a phobia, it's fiqh.

Why do you believe that food made by hindus becomes najis? Can you provide any verses of quran or hadiths as proof?

Unfortunately, there are alot of discriminate laws in Islam, and many really don't have any textual evidence to back them up, you'll see ambiguous references used.

Fiqh rulings contradict each other all the time. But admittedly, in this case, marjas are practically unanimous. But there is no logic behind this ruling.

Don't hold your breath. Marjas hardly ever provide textual references to show how a ruling was derived.

If this is true, than it should be no problem for you to show me the textual references, because I can't find any.

With all the blatantly implicit discrimination and sacrilege rulings, this comment gave me a concussion. Is Islamic law dead and hollow or is it supposed to accomodate growth for individuals? It is this sort of brain-dead mindset that led to the apartheid in the US. It is those who truly let go of their prejudices and bias, approaching that neutral position and seeing things for what they're worth, who truly hold onto the actual eternal values and spirit of the religious law.

As Ugly Jinn rightly said, you have no textual based proof to defend a clearly perverse position. The crisis, currently, in islamic jurisprudence is that law deducere are taking context specific laws and applying them as general, eternal laws.

Ok, you guys starting to scare me

What about someone living in Kuwait where the people working at resteraunts are rarely muslim. Not even sure if theyre from Ahlul Kitab.

What do i do, cant ask them "excuse me, whats your religion and if its not so and so I'm walking out"

Plus what if I order water from Macdonalds, and the Najis Kafir or Mushrik gives it to me, is it najis ?

Here are some examples from Ayatollahs. You can see, they say different things. Some say that all humans are pure, others say there are impure humans.

Ayatollah Fadlallah said all humans are pure.

Q: Is every person clean ? For example: Is a hindu or an atheist najis (for muslims) ? What is your opinion ?

Ayatollah Sistani:

Q1) Eating at a restaurant where the cooks and waiters are of mixed religions, hindu, Christians and Muslims – is it allowed from the najis point of view?

A1) If the owner is a Muslim of the meals does not contain meats. There is no objection in eating, as well you can eat – if you are not sure to be najis.

Question :
Is it permissible to eat from non Ahlul Kitãb people?

Answer :
A Muslim is allowed to eat the food prepared by a non-Muslim who is not from Ahlul Kitãb [for example, a Hindu or a Buddhist], provided that he does not know or is not sure that the non-Muslim touched the food with wetness; and provided that he does not know or is not sure that the food consists of what is forbidden to him like intoxicating drinks. As for meat, fat and their extracts, there are specific rules that will come later on.
