OMG HE DID SAY HE WAS FROM CANADA D:!!!!

And he was like 'what's your height?' and I stupidly told him and he's like... 'Oh I'm three inches shorter, will have to bend down to kiss...' And I went   OMG!! EWWWWWWWW! Fudging hell! Some people have no shame whatsoever, man, it's sick! Yeah but he said he's seperated with three kids. I saved the convo and showed it to all my friends later lol.

for another clarification sis, did he say that he has 2 sons (11 n 9 years old) and 1 daughter (6 years old) ?

ok I do have some idea about computers and networking. So to protect my fellow sisters I am going to contribute some tips:
1. Install anit Spyware software lol no seriously. You might not know it that a person is watching your computer screen and keystrokes and stuff just as though he was standing next to you.
2. Dont install any VNc servers on your computers and if you do then switch them off if not needed.
3. Get yourself a router. When you are behind a router you have quite a significant  layer of security without too much of a cost.
4. Firewall yourself. If you like DIY, Pm me to find out how to make a dedicated firewall from your old computer
5. Always send encrypted messages
6. If possible send digitally signed messages
7. Use strong passwords like zX53mjfY421 lol
8. Dont mess around on less known websites as they might transfer insecure cookies to your system
9. Lastly, the easiest and BEST tip :D Get a Mac! yippe

Why dont the mods just trace route this guy's Ip and inform the police who would be able to track down the router he is behind.

thank you so much brother dindong for the tips. maybe i will ask you, but not now...well i have to learn about your track record first (be extra vigilant...remember?)lol

^ you wanna check MY record? I ahve never been accused of this before.

But actually you dont know me so yeah sure go ahead but hey even i dont know YOU so i will check you out oo and I will not give out any of MY personal info.

Well you can contact an admin to check the logs to find out which WAN IP address he logged in from last. And then you can use a website (forgot which one) to trace which router that IP address goes to. It will prolly trace back to his local ISP router in his locality. It will also give you a satelite image of the router area.

You can also contact the police to kinda trace this guy's IP further down to his HOUSE.

But it sounds like this guy is not an amateur. This could mean that he could have used measures to cover up his tracks. He could ahve accessed the internet tunelling himself through a secure SSH or a private VPN. He could also be using anonmous browsing programs. This would make matters MUCh worse. Beyond me I would say lol.

Thats what people can do at Univs. Normally Univs have very very high speed connections but they block the Bit torrent ports so you cant download movies and stuff. So what people do is secure themselves, and direct their bit torrent traffic through an SSH tunnel which allows them to utilize their Univs bandwisth for VERY high speed downloads. :shaytan:

No, idea. Didn't get into much detail about his family apart from if my mother is available and then the implication if I am available...

(salam) bro,

I totally agree with your number 2. about installing the VNC server. We had an occurence at work where somebody leaked a worm through a VNC window that was not password protected and basically they have acess to everything on the network.

However if you set the password, wouldnt that enable it to be secure? Also if somebody is using the VNC viewer to view your computer, you can tell as the icon for VNC changes to a black colour.

Also if Im using a router for my wireless network. Does that layer of security still apply or is that only for a LAN?

Thanks

^RealVNc Enterprise i think has the ability to hide the icon. So then you are in a very dangerous situation. Wireless routers are basically the same thing as LAN just that they hav a wireless access point. So instead of using ethernet as the media for data transfer, they use a wireless access point for it which in turn uses radio waves (I think). Yes even that is secure. But this doesnt mean you are totally secured though. Its just one layer of good security. If you do want to use VNc and keep it on, use an obscure (but legal) port for the incoming connection like 2593 instead of the standard 5900. But even this isnt completely safe AFAIk as a por scan can be carried out. As far as passwords are concerned, a rainbow table or in extreme cases a brute force attack will make your password look like a nursery rhyme. Use something loong and complex. If you want I can tell you how to maek secure passwords too. Man computers are fun. Its been a long time ince I talked about them. Maybe I should continue a career in comuters.

Bhai Wahhhh Wahhh!! It does make sense.

Suddenly after 4 or 5 years of SC, everyones all scared and worried about the disgusting pervs. Is this due to experience with pervs on SC or is it the "IN" topic these days lol. There are soo many threads about it lately.

Well I donno. I just 'developed' a new tip. LOL

If you ahve a password and dont want others to find it out while you are typing then do this. If you see someone looking really closely at your keyboard (like my terrorizing twin sisters), just type in a wrong password while they are looking, once you get your hand off the keyboard to use your mouse to click on log in or whatever, they will look up and away. So they would have looked at a wrong password. Now click or press enter or whatever. It will say wrong password or whatever. Now quickly like lightning put in your real password and ta da you just evaded some snoopy eyes.

Avarice is disgrace; cowardice is a defect; poverty often disables an intelligent man from arguing his case; a poor man is a stranger in his own town; misfortune and helplessness are calamities; patience is a kind of bravery; to sever attachments with the wicked world is the greatest wealth; and piety is the best weapon of defense.

Just make sure you dont suspect everyone and anyone as its not allowed aFAIK. Also some people mght ahve genuine knowledge and might eb posting amazing stuff here with pure intentions. Just because they post a lot of Qurn ayahs and Ahadith doesnt mean that they are perverts.

No 313 form Ayatollah Sistani's book:

Quote

Suspicion. Almighty Allãh has forbidden us from having suspicious thoughts. He says in His noble Book, “O you who believe! Refrain from most of the suspicions because some suspicions are a sin.” (49:12)
Based on this noble Qur’ãnic verse, it is not permissible for a believer to entertain suspicious thoughts about his fellow Muslim without any clear proof and evidence, because no one other than Allãh knows the inner-most thoughts of a person. So, as long as it is possible to place the action of a believer in a proper context, we should do so until it is proven otherwise. Imam ‘Ali (a.s.) said, “Place the affair of your brother in the best possible [context] until you get a proof which convinces you [of the contrary]. And do not have suspicious thoughts about a word that comes out of your brother [in faith] while you have a positive context for it.” (47)

LOL! What has the world come to.

This perv thing is going wayyy out of control. Maaybe 2-4% SCs are pervs but I doubt everyone you talk to is on here with some dirty thoughts. As bro dindong said, you shouldn't suspect anyone till they're proven to be pervs but nonetheless you should practice caution.

I've got to know many ppl online and many ppl have helped me over the years since I became Muslim when I was 14. I've had financial help, things mailed to me, etc. Not everyone is out to get people online. Sometimes you do make sincere friendships and they last along while. I put my addy on my profile and any man wanna try a number by me I'll check his ass at the door. I say sisters and brothers need to MAN UP!

I'm kindda annoyed by uptight people online. Your email addy can be changed folks. I recommend keeping one for fun and one for serious stuff. And if you know everyone your fwd the email to whats the big deal, Arman's Wife? I bet u sent me a reply when I set out fwds before. The only thing thats mega annoying is when people like to harvest your email addy for their spamming adventures.
