Avarice is disgrace; cowardice is a defect; poverty often disables an intelligent man from arguing his case; a poor man is a stranger in his own town; misfortune and helplessness are calamities; patience is a kind of bravery; to sever attachments with the wicked world is the greatest wealth; and piety is the best weapon of defense.

Lunch is so boring without you, we miss you!

Told by my friends because now they have a different lunch period then I do. I thought it was really sweet
The most selfish one letter word: "I" Avoid it.
The most poisonous three letter word: "Ego"  Kill it.
The most pleasing five letter word: "Smile"  Keep it.
The fastest spreading six letter word: "Rumour"  Ignore it.
The hardest working seven letter word: "Success"  Achieve it.
The most enviable eight letter word: "Jealousy" Distance it.
The most essential ten letter word: "Confidence" Trust it.

You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take

kids are kids they are never serious....

well well i really dont remember nicest thing some one told me coz it happens so frequently its hard to remember all and to make out which one was the best ;)) hehehe
Shiaism got dramatized as the time passed on, best thing for a MOMIN will be to stick with QURAAN and keeping balance between HAQ and BATIL.

I dont really pay attention to things people say to me because i dont know if they are lying or not.
what i do care about is about a friend greeting you saying "whats up " or even a smile or a head nod.
Its the little things that matter.

or when people commit random acts of kindness... i remember when i was a little kid maybe 6-7
an old man was passing out candy just to please others... and i still havn't forgotten him.

probably the nicest thing someone said to me was by my daughter a few years after I converted to Islam

she looked at me and said;

"Mom, I am so proud of you, none of this was easy, and we all went through our own hell, but mom, i have to tell you i have never been so proud of anyone in my life as i am you, I see your strength, and i wish i was strong like you, you stood up in the face of everyone and said I am doing what I think is right, and for that I could not be prouder of you, you are the best mom in the world and i love you.......

It's halloween and I'm in college.  I hear my neighbor screaming so I walk over the lawn to see what the problem is.  She's having a domestic dispute with her boyfriend and her roommates are all involved.

All of a sudden the boy friend's buddies roll up and they're about to beat the crap out of me because they think I'm involved in the dispute.  All the girls start yelling, "No don't hurt Yacoub!!! He's the nice guy of the neighborhood."

Wallahi, being a nice person saved me a trip from going to the hospital and made me feel good. :)

This isn't really a nice thing someone has said to me, but it was one of the most touching things I've ever heard from someone...

I was helping my 7 year old cousin Fatima (who is an orphan - her dad abandoned their mom and her two sisters about 5 years ago) with some of her schoolwork, and as we finished up and she was putting her books back in her schoolbag, she looked up at me with beady eyes filled with tears and said in a whimpering voice "Its not fair, everyone has a daddy except us. 'Learned', please can you be my daddy?"

I think that was the first time in my life I was lost for words. She broke my heart and I just didn't know how to answer her in that moment. Luckily, my Uncle's wife was in the room and heard what she said, and knew how to answer her.

Still breaks my heart every time I remember it...

To see a world in a grain of sand
And heaven in a wild flower
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour

Live up to your name.

O Allah, we ardently desire that in (his) (Imam Mahdi a.s) kind, just and fair era. You should reactivate Islam and stimulate its followers and humble and humiliate the impostors and their double dealing, and include us among those who invite people unto Your obedience, and lead them to Your approved path and give us the good of this world and the hereafter.

Probably when my professor told me to get my paper published. For me, compliments are usually restricted to the academic arena. Can't recall the last nice, non-academic thing someone said to me.

Damn. It sent tears rolling down me cheeks.

It was a personal déjà vu. . .

^ mine is similar - ONE of the nicest things is when my consultant sat me and the other junior doctor down after our rotation and said that we had been outstanding! when someone compliments you on the work u do - OTHER THAN A CONFUSED YUGASLAVIAN who happens to have had a mini-stroke - It feels good :P

But yeah ive been complimented by confused, delirious elderly patients but I doubt that counts rite.

Um one of my friends on leaving the house we all shared - wrote a note saying " your parents did a good job you have a heart of gold etc"  that was nice.

Anyways IM TO COOL FOR SKOOL - this is getting a bit too hippyish.
