What was the message of the movie?  The value of sibling relations and family spirit?  Well, it was a nice movie.

be grateful you don't need to share shoes with your siblings?

on a side note in the Children of heaven did anyone notice the anthem the littel girls were saying as they stood in line

We are the flowers of our country
anyone want to shed any light on its meaning/significance?

Both are fabulous movies.  I actually liked Color of Paradise and Baran better than Children of Heaven, but I guess it's a matter of personal preference.  All are brilliant.  What amazes me is the simplicity, yet profound depth of each movie without it having to be fast paced and action-oriented.  I feel like sometimes Hollywood feeds off our ADD, lol.

My husband and I rented Color of Paradise, Baran, and two Irani films called Secret Ballot and Leila in the past, despite the crazy looks and glances I received from Blockbuster employees ^_^ .  Yes, I agree that the amazing simplicity and outstanding storyline of these films often reminds us of how brilliantly profound a film can be without the added extravagance and hollywood-esque glitz, glitter, and glam :)

Lovely film, nice to watch with the family, thanks for recommending it. I wish they showed the children's faces when they received the shoes their father bought them, I got a lil mad that they didn't show that

that was some SIIICKK filum   .....definite oscar

That was just pure genius when ALIIIII intends to come 3rd....but there were bits where i thought Zarah was a bit strange (complements). like when she stares at the other girl. I thought she was gonna break loose and jump her or something. But Nah she handled it well....overall whoever directed this is pure genius

overall message of the film....DON'T BE SPOIL BRATS, theres more to life than materialistic desires, like family relations and RESPECT.

im so going to fail.

I might've understood the ending differently, cuz although I was about to cry when I thought it wasn't happy, my bro pointed out from one of the details that it actually was; you just have to understand that part on your own instead of being shown it.

What is it that shows it's a happy ending?

Loll Nostagia. When I went to the Khoei school in London I was like in Grade 2 and used to wear what Zahra was wearing lol

Such a sad movie

Did anyone watch this Iranian film on Channel 3 ITV1 on Saturday night I think it came on pretty late but it had subtitles and was a brilliant film. I wish I had grown up in Iran because everything seems so perfect and Islamic, in the film no women was shown without covering her Aurah but at the same time it was a very nice film to watch. It nearly had me crying when the kid enters the race to win his siter a pair of trainers but comes first and gets another prize instead of the shoes  .

Awwww I had no idea it was on UK television.  I've always wanted to see this film. And now I can! Ali Imran thanks so much for posting this, you made my day! :D

You don't happen to know where I can get hold of Color of Paradise online do you?  It's on youtube in lots of different parts, but it doesn't seem to be the complete film.

thats whats sooo good about IR Iran- that the media- everything- is do Islamic. even if you watch any drama you will see that all women are covered masha Allah no wonder they are so advanced- Iran's certainly an example to other "Muslim" countries- or at least, it should be. may Allah protect Iran! its really the only country that stands up to oppression may Allah bless Iran
