The Fatimd Tarikh mentions it.

Does this refer to the alteration of the Ghadeer Khum event?

I first came across the theory and ideology of the eight (8) Awli Al-Amri from very early Qadiriyya Razawi material. After doing some extensive research on all the variables of this concept, I came to realize that this hypothesis could very well be historiographical fact.

I actually happen to run across a discussion on this on the Madani cable channel some months back...Wish I had recorded it.

To be honest I don't know much about Qadiriyya, they are a sufi sect who follow Abdul Qadir Al Gilani (born 1077 CE).
How come they continue their chain of light after Ali Ridha with Maruf Karkhi?
I read on wikipedia he maintained the teachings of his master Dawud Ta'i.

I personally agree with you in a lot of your scepticism although not necessarily with your conclusions.

Please tell me more about this very early Qadiriyya Razawi material.

Yes...To the first query.

The chain of spiritual masters (silsila) of the Qadiriyya is given thus; The meaning of this list (which I copy-pasted from Wikipedia) is that the Qadiri school traces its chain of enlightenment from the 8th and last Wali Al-Amr. The subsequent names are Shaykhs (Elders) who continued that school of spiritual thought up until Abdul Qadir Gilani. Then another school commenced from Shaykh Gilani's time.
