i am a zaidi , and i am a syed.

Zaidi's came from the orgin of the 4th imam, imam zain-ul-abidin (a.s)

Do you mean the Zaydi sect, or do you mean people with the last name Zaidi?

I am a zaidi also.  The Zaidi's are decendants from the 4th Imam, not his brother.  Although I do remember hearing something regarding Zaidi's who have formed their own way of practicing Islam.  But they are a totally different sect.

People are getting confused here.

We have Zaidi Syeds - who are from Syed-E-Sajjad (as)'s linage

And we have Zaidi Shias - Who believed that Imam Zainul Abideen (as)'s other son; Zaid was the 5th Imam and not Imam Mohammed Baqir .

Zaidi Shias have more in common with Sunnis than Ithna Asheri's.

They do not accept Imam Ali as the first imam, rather acknowledge that he was a better choice "but it was not meant to be".

brief history of Zaidi's.

Hazret Zaid, the oldest son (i thinK) of the 4th imam, he went to india to give the message out of islam. When he was leaving, (i dont know who) but a lanti, gave him a death sentance so he ran to india and thats where it spread.

Unfortunatly hazret Zaid was shaheeded and buried in Iraq (i think).

In Muslims there are 2 kinds of zaidis.....

1> ZAIDI SYEDS who are the decendants of Hazrat Zaid Bin Ali Zain Ul Abideen Bin Hussain Bin Ali Bin Abu Talib(AS)............they all are Shia Ithna Ashari, no problem or dispute in that.

2> Zaidi Sect, pls do not confuse it with Zaidi Sadat. Zaidi syeds have nothing to to with Zaidi or Zaidiyyah Sect. Infact, even Hazrat Zaid Bin Imam Zain Ul Abideen(AS) has nothing to do with Zaidiyyah sect also because some of the ignorant companions of Hazrat Zaid(AS) claimed that he was an IMAM after his Martydom. Now ppl said that Hazrat ALI(AS) is god....is there any turth in it....noooooooooo.....same way pppl said that Hazrat Muhammad E Hanafiya was the imam after Hazrat Imam HUSSAIN(AS)....did Hazrat Muhammad e Hanafia claimed to be an imam...nooooooooooooo...Same way Hazrat Zaid did not claim to be an imam and was very well aware of the fact of his brother Imam Muhammad e Baqir(AS) right to imamte(the proof is his wasiyya to Imam Jaffar Al- Sadiq(AS)). Almost all the imams of Al E Muhammad(AS) had good things to say about their uncle Zaid and also weeped on his martydom.

it is a very disturbing fact that some of our zaidi syed brothers have to face the remarks of being from zaidi sect which is absolutely wrong. Zaidi Syeds are a different thing and Zaidiyyah Sect is a different thing. its Just like if u r a  Baqiri Syed and some one comes and tell that since u r from Fiqh E Jafarriya, u r a JAFFERY SYED......how annoying will it get when u are a Baqiri syed and ppl are calling u Jaffari syed. Same way its annoying for zaidi syeds when they are called from zaidiyya sect. I REPEAT ZAIDI SYEDS AND ZAIDIYYAH SECT ARE 2 DIFFERENT THINGS. NONE OF THE ZAIDI SADAT FROM INDIA AND PAKISTAN ZARE FROM ZAIDIYYAH SECT, THEY ALL ARE ITHNA ASHARI SHIAS.


Now someone might ask that y arent the zaidi syeds called abidi because they are actually abidi. the answer is, havent u heard about bokhari syeds.......they are naqvi syeds from the place called bokhara so they took its name.....sheraiz syeds are jaffri, then y do they put sherazi infront of their name.......

same way zaidi syeds are basically abidi syeds from the lineage of Hazrat Zaid Bin Ali bin Hussain....they mention Hazrat Zaid(AS) name specially in their syed name(ZAIDI INSTEAD OF ABIDI) because of hazrat zaid's special merits. hazrat Zaid is the only syed zada apart from all our imams, the news of martydom of whome was given to Imam Hussain(AS) by Rasool Allah(SAWW) himself. Rasool Allah(AS) referred to him as his son. Tell me how many direct decendants of imams were named and called his son by rasool Allah except the imams. None Except Hazrat Zaid(AS). No fight or competition between syeds is going on over here, but this is a fact. Prophet(SAWW) informed Imam Hussain(AS) abt the rebellion that Hazrat Zaid will begin against the opressor of the time, and that he will be Killed by  the ppl of his own ummah(ummah of rasool Allah). Due to this special recognition by the rasool Allah and many other such kind of merits, Zaidi syeds are called zaidis and not abidis because they want everyone to know that they are abidis from hazrat zaid!!!!!!!!!!!....

SHeikh Al -MUFID the toppest shia historian, who has the owner of teaching Syed Razi(COMPILER OF NAHJUL BALAGHA) because Bibi SAYEDA(SA) came to her dream telling Sheikh Mufid to teach his hassan and hussain(referral to Syed razi and his brother Syed Murtaza)..........Can Bibi come in a liar's dream who was abt to be the teacher of the compiler of nahjul balagha..nooooooooooooooo.....so v cant doubt sjeikh al mufid and the hostory he wrote......

sheikh al mufid has quoted variuos sayings of the Imams Of Al E Muhammad(AS) abt Hazrat Zaid all in good terms describing him with manny merits............
