Salaam alaikum

I was wondering how a shia and sunni mariage can be resolved..My friend who recently became shia has always liked this sunni girl and now that he has converted it has become harder for him to get married to her.

Anyone got any opinions to how it can be resolved? Bearing in mind the girls family would not want a shia for their daughter.

And how does the nikah differ amongst shia and sunni's?
"The heavens and the earth lamented the death of Husain. Four thousand Angels descended from the heavens to aid him, but when they reached there they saw that he had already been martyred. Thus, now they all remain near his blessed grave with disheveled hair covered with dust until the rising of the Qaem (Imam al Mahdi). Then they will all aid him and their slogan will be: Vengeance for the blood of Husain."  Imam Ali Reza (as)

My father is Shia, my mother sunni. They been together for 30 years. No problems for either of them. They were married both shia/sunni way to please all.

Im proud of my folks and look up to them, as any child would.

If this girls parents dont like shias, then she and her parents arent worth their narrowmindedness.

The world has better shia women than there ever will be pious sunni women.
Anyone Who Denies Imame Ali (AS) Is A KAFIR.

Can Any Sunni Show A Sunni Sahih Sittah Hadeeth Proving That Baker/Umar/Uthman Ever Converted To Islam Or Ever Recited The Shahada?

dear brother muslim is muslim, it doesnt matter shia or sunni, and if she is like him. which as u said he became shia, then she can be shia too, and i am telling some sunni girls are way better than some shia girls.ok brother. and beside if ur frined has strong believe in his relagion which is shiat, then tell him to have a discusion with the girl that she likes and make her to beleive on what he bleive and i am sure she will, becuase our relagion is way stronger that theres.

thanx

Salam un Alaykum,

I would have to disagree, I feel their actually is a differance between shia and sunni; and while I am for unity, the differance is not that small; its between omar and Imam Ali, the best {Ali} and the worst {omar} ya'ni If either one is practicing, they will have trouble in the future.  One will do matam and the other will get upset and the other will break their fast before the sun sets and ....

And don't forget you have children, and the mother plays a great role in the raising of children.

I would say try to convert her to shia, either by telling some shia sisters to do it for you or.... not for love, or to marry her, but rather so she becomes shia and in the path designated by Allah.

Well bro..i dont think he mentioned anything abt THE GIRL disliking shias.. it was the parents only.  <_<

However.. about the nikah. well.. there's a nikah done from both sides usually.

The best thing is, if she cud become shia. Becoz of the differences and all that.
BUT if she doent..then, you have to remember that she's a muslim, and there's nothing wrong in marrying another muslim.

And also.. make sure she loves Ahulbait (as) aswell.. otherwise, it can be very difficult to live with someone, with a different feeling and opinion about them (as).

Last but not least...convince her parents .. convince convince and convince..dont ever give up !!!

I WOULD THINK THAT THE ONLY WAY TO RESOLVE "SUNNI AND SHIA" MARRIAGES IS TO HAVE EVERYONE (THE TWO GETTING MARRIED AND THEIR PARENTS) AGREE THAT IT IS OKAY FOR THE TWO TO BE GETTING MARRIED...IF HER/HIS FAMILY DOESNT AGREE THEN THEY SHOULD NOT GET MARRIED...THEY SHOULD NOT DEFY THEIR FAMILY... :Hijabi:

as such their is nothing wrong in shia sunni marriage legally but their are points to think.
1) their was this person who used to work in our factory. his name was abdul karim. he was a convert from shia to sunni. all of his family was sunni. now that he has died and his children are small. his wife is sunni so all of them will be sunnis.

2)one of my colligue. his father is shia and mother is sunni. half of the children are shia and the other half are sunni.

3)my wife belongs to a shia family. one of his uncle was married to a sunni woman. now all the children are sunni.

4) my wifs's real aunt was married in a sunni family. all the children are sunni.

5)our neighbours some year back were a similar case. even though the sunni wife of the shia person had died some time back, the children were sunni. we would take the old man with us for salat-e-eid.

6) their is a doctor shia and hiss wife is a professor is sunni and now this persons concerns are how to protect his children from sunni ideas. the father takes the children to majalis but the mother teaches them the ways of sunni's. this has occured even though their marriage was a love marriage and they had at that time decidid to raise the children by shiah ways. but now the mother cannot see her children going to hell.

so brother, think again and again. my country is a sunni majority state and thus ppl with little knowledge thend to question the shia system rather than the sunni. and sunni islamic studies are taught in the country.

so brothers think and think again
